Bad day for the Americans today

Talansky fell trying to stay at the front in the sprint, no time lost but a hefty amount of road rash.

While TJ fell with about 16km to go and has lost just over a minute, putting him over 3 minutes behind Nibali, Top 5 looking even more unlikely

TJ was extremely unlucky. Riding at the front and his own teammate wasn't paying attention and clipped his wheel.

Looks like we saw a little chink in Nibalis' armor at the very end of the stage. AC gained a few seconds in the last 20m or so.

TVG looked pretty good and Talansky was dropped. I just hope we can get an American on the podium

Yeah psychologically, that has to feel good for Contador. And for Nibali, you definitely don't want to show signs of weakness like that.
But then again it was three seconds

Yeah, Nibali looked cooked at the very end. We will see how that translates on the long climbs we'll see in tomorrow and next week.

Talansky crashed again. The Americans have been spending plenty of time on the ground so far.

Saxo has Astana right where they want them. Saxo looked like USPS from old. Rogers was playing Hincappie and Contador will crush people in next couple days. Then in TT he will do what he does and then the Alps are just for show. I think Astana can't hold Saxo off anymore, they spent to much defending for 7 days.

The only tt in this tour is on the penultimate day. Nibali will fade on the long climbs and the battle will come down to AC and Porte. I think Contadors experience and team strength prevails in the end. It will be exciting to the end because Porte is a top flite TTer.

I thought there was one between the two mountain sections also?

The Team trial and Mt Ventoux need to be included every other year and also Alpe D'Huez every year.

The organizers made the race harder and took out the TT's for this addition. I think they wanted to keep some of the pure climbers in the race longer.

Although I like the TTT, it seems to take a lot of good riders out of the race. Anytime they've had one in the TDF, it has narrowed the contenders down to 2 or 3 riders.

I do agree with having Ventoux or les Alpe in every tour. Those stages are always fun to watch because of their brutality.

I think you could have a trial up and down one of the mountains...Vonteoux is a definate no, but Alpe D'Huez would be epic. I thought they did it in 04 or something like that.

I do not think they use Val D'Isere for some reason either.

Yeah, a ITT up and down (or just up) would make for a nice change up. Flat land TT, mountain TT, regular stages = good. The TTT always looks so cool though...

Tony Martin turned this bitch into a time trial, dude looked amazing on the descent. That was impressive

Gallopin is going to rent the yellow for tomorrow's stage, Astana wasn't worried about it at all they're focused on the big prize.

I have no idea what happened today...

I thought the leaders would fight some but they waited for tomorrow to fight. Martin was a man, glad for him. The French will now have the dumb dope raids tonight to keep yellow.

The Giro had a Mountain Time Trial last year that was just 20km with an average of 7%. And Nibali just destroyed everyone 2nd place was nearly a minute behind.

I've seen Talansky was blamed for the crash yesterday by both Geraint Thomas and Leo Konig did too.
quote:

"On the last descent the IDIOT Talansky took me down in about 60kmh. Yesterday he was blaming Gerrans even though it was his fault and today he took us down again. Those kind of people shouldnt be here. I have to talk to him, I dont like it"

Happy for Tony Martin to get the win, surprised Astana took this long to get rid of the yellow, and on a stage where Saxo will control it anyway. Got the day off work tomorrow aswell so happy days

Contador is out. Apparently his frame cracked while he was riding and he went down hard. Threw in the towel after trying to ride for a few miles.

Is it too late to let Nairo in? The rest of the Tour is going to suck. No big firepower left in the mountains.

On the other hand, the Vuelta is shaping up to be the best it's been in years.
