Success.... Winning a championship is hard, Lakers tried to stack their team and failed with Malone and Payton

If you think winning 2 titles in 4 years much less going to the finals 100% of the time is a failure then you are out of your God damn mind.

Sure it's not as successful as it could have been but by no means is it failure.

This thread is fricking retarded.

I hope the Pels eventually fail in the manner that the heat have failed these past 4 seasons.

Although winning 4 straight is unheard of and almost unrealistic many of you were saying 4 years ago howd they challenge the Bulls win record and at least win 3.

Right?
Funny that people actually entertain the thought that it's a failure

Define "many", and also who is "you"? You have any actual names to put with that statement or are you just building strawmen?

definitely not a failure, but it doesn't have to be success or failure, there are plenty of exit ramps in between.

the mere notion that a quote would effect YOUR opinion on the OP question is telling.

That couldn't possibly have less relevance on whether I or YOU think it's success or failure or anything in between.

I'm going with 2-3. Could be more though if the Thunder get split up to bad.

Spurs and Lakers to old with no promising young superstars.

I'm putting Bulls on hold till I see what Rose looks like in 2 years.

Dwight/CP3/DW show no signs of being on teams that will make the leap/spend the money unless Griffin makes a monster jumper in his play.

Though it help established what the expectation was

They said 8

I was at 4

They won 2

Failure is a strong word but it wasn't a success

NBA franchises with more than 2 titles:

Celtics - 17
Lakers - 16
Bulls - 6
Spurs - 4 (about to be 5)
76ers - 3
Pistons - 3
Warriors - 3

I would gladly take the 2 titles and call it a success
Yea, that alone debunks any talk of it being a failure.

They wasted money on Greg Oden and Michael Beasley.
super cheap, 1 year deals, maybe even vet minimums?

They had to let Mike Miller, who started in 4 finals games last year, just walk.

the cap penalty rules were instituted after all of this, and Miller would have cost the team other $23 million this season alone with the added penalties.

What does their expectation have to do with your expectation? Can you not think independently?

You said you thought they would win 3 minimum. Assuming they lose today and come back next year, they can still do that.

It was definitely not a failure as they did what they were designed to do, win championships.

On that same note, I don't think they can be considered as successful as they or many people thought they would be.

in the summer of 201o, If I asked 2/4 success or failure, there would be some very different answers on here.

This.

It has not been as successful as people initially thought it could be. I'd say 3/4 was not unreasonable to expect from this team.

However, to say that 2/4 is a failure...

Its a failure because Thursday night before the game started, it still looked very likely that the Heat were gonna win 3 in a row and who knows how many more. Amazing what another blowout changed in terms of history.

Also gotta say I'm not a fan of the ridiculous amount of time between finals games when the teams travel.

definitely not.

Something like 27 a game on 60% from the field and 61% from 3.
