jfc RIP that 101mph fastball. Maybe it won't end up being TJ.

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Alex Reyes has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and will get a second opinion, but season-ending Tommy John surgery is likely, a source told ESPN's Jim Bowden.

I would be so pissed as a player. Wait and train the whole offseason and end your season the first day of reporting

The cardinals will now go back to back seasons without their #2 pitcher. FML

First, frick!

Now that that is out of the way, I've read that the first 10 days of spring are the biggest risk days for pitchers as they start to work their way back into the groove.

Because their coaches tell them to stop throwing up until that point basically after the end of the season. I understand the arms need rest, but you can't go out there on a mound and start throwing right away after so many months

I am fairly certain most if not every pitcher has an offseason throwing program, I don't think they ever quit throwing for any extended period of time.

I know in the minors they don't want them throwing until about 2 weeks before they report

That depends on the organization.

Yeah, that could be also. I only know about one organization so that's what I'm basing it off of

"Likely" is premature, though there is certainly that possibility.

But, either way, him pitching in the WBC is/was a terrible idea.

The one with what has been described as by far the worst farm system in the league.

Did you make it to any games last summer?

If I were a Cardinals fan, I would be pissed that the Astros didn't better check out Reyes' arm and health and put that information in Ground Control.

Good lord. Your team won the world series last year and the only thing you can think about is the Cardinals. You must be miserable.

Sucks for the kid but Karma is a bitch for the Cardinals. He was probably an Astro find anyway.
