I admit that I was critical of him in his first game, but he is coming along nicely now. Predicting plays, identifying defenses before the snap. He's doing great.

Tony Romo and Jeff Gordon have been just terrific in their transitions to the broadcast booth, to be honest

He really does do a good job. I was impressed last week for Patriots and Saints game.

I don't like the predicting plays. I don't want to know what the play is going to be before it's run.

What Romo is doing is terrific for the casual fan. Face it, most of us aren't going to be breaking down film before/after the game. Unless you actually played at that level, most of the inner workings are a mystery.

Having some light she'd on things like pre-snap reads is incredible. Helps people know what to look for. Makes you a more knowledgeable fan. It's awesome.

If he was just guessing it would be one thing.

But after he called the 3rd down run for Cincy, Michaels asked how he knew. I loved how he explained the defensive scheme in how he thought Cincy had a read run/pass option on. And since there was five guys near the LOS it was a run, had there been six it would have been a pass.

I'm fine with it as long as there is solid insight behind it.

He’s giving great insight and what to look for

I haven’t noticed many guessing

It's nice don't get me wrong, but any new announcer gets this treatment. Give him some years and we'll get the same "OMG it's Romo " treatment that every color announcer in history has gotten.

I'll take the announcer 100% of the time who actually takes the time to explain why a play was run by a team and why it did or didn't work over one that simply says great/bad call w/zero insight as to what made it work or not.

It's not like Romo is playing the bullshite second guess the coach crap where every play that doesn't work is deemed terrible or the BS where an announcer starts telling us what he wants the team to run regardless of if it makes sense.

Tony is actually educating football fans which is a GOOD thing.

No one knows the agony of getting sacked out of field goal range like Tony Romo.
