ON PTI today. Agree or Disagree? Imo I think he's right. He is not always right or even thoughtful, but he says what comes to mind and in sports media saturated by ESPN shills who wanna "Embrace Debate'" Chuck's level of honesty has some value. I consistently listen to Charles on Inside the NBA and think, "no one else would say that on TV." Or "ESPN would fire him on the spot if he said that over there"

If it isn't Chuck, then who would it be?

Skipper would give up a nut to hire Barkley.

Because someone on a group espn show said it yesterday and he is just repeating what he heard.

I think Barkley thinks he says smarter things than what he really does, we listen cause of his brutal honesty which is refreshing but sometimes I think his points are fairly shallow.

I love that he's a straight shooter, quite refreshing.

I can agree with that to an extend. Really was disappointed on his constant bashing of the Warriors the last 2 seasons. At this point it's a running joke on the show though. when he's wrong, the guys call him out on it and he owns up to it.

I think Barkley usually takes the easy stance that the majority agrees with, so everyone thinks his voice is so important because he's someone they usually agree with. And he's also basically a caricature so when he does say something dumb we treat it with just an "awe shucks, that crazy Charles" type attitude so he's in a no lose situation.

There's plenty of gasbags on TV today that shoot from the hip and speak what's on their mind, but they're also guys we don't tend to agree with or aren't 1/100th as likable as Barkley.

Fwiw, I love Barkley. Don't care if I agree with him or not, he entertains me.

Since when is being a black man and saying that you're considering voting republican considered taking the easy stance?

He probably heard Russillo say it yesterday. That being said, I agree.

He's got the luxury of being a former all time great athlete, so he automatically demands a certain level of respect from other athletes that Skip Bayless couldn't for example. He's also so big that he doesn't have to worry about the repercussions of what he says unless it was something absolutely vile. I agree with Kornheiser.

"Important" and "sports media" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

Barkley speaks to appease the majority. He constantly seeking approval for majority with his statements.

I love Barkley, as a player and now as a commentator. He gets away with saying all those things because he is black, which is fine with me.

But remember when Rush Limbaugh was fired for his Donovan comments...that's because Rush is white.

But I still love Charles, proll my fav NBA player ever, and his stance on Black Lives Matter was EPIC.
