Scottie is our generation’s Tom Watson. An exacting tactician with occasional yips on the green.

I really think Scottie is more like Tiger

He isn’t a tactician. The dude is an assassin with irons and also smokes the ball

Scottie buries people. I feel like people are forgetting be had 6 birdies in the final 11 holes yesterday

Scottie is great, but when Tiger was in his prime he was basically playing a different sport than the rest of the field.

True, but I see them as two very different players. Tiger's strength was staying out of trouble - but when he got into trouble he had this magical ability to turn a lousy position into 6 feet from the pin. Scottie's more of a Top Gun / Iceman type of player. He's just machine like steady and you can't make any mistakes around him.

One big difference between the two is that as phenomenal as he is, I’m not tuning into a tournament to watch Scottie Scheffler. Not that he should care. I’m just saying.

I'm not tuning into the nauseating coverage of a +15 Tiger Woods

And I don't know enough about Scottie to know what drives him, how much he cares about legacy, about being one of the all-time greats.

He does not possess the psychotic and sociopathic mindset to continue greatness once he has a family. He has said repeatedly golf doesn't define him. He's going to be a great family man, and unfortunately, he will regress as he does that, just like Spieth, etc. Guys like Tiger and MJ are different.

Just my opinion.

I don’t get that vibe at all

And his interview yesterday only reiterated that where he specifically mentioned having a kid won’t change a thing with his hunger

I truly just don’t get this. Scottie is so far from a boring golfer on course. And he actually gives fantastic interviews

I’m guessing jack nicklaus would also be viewed as boring to this generation?

Let's be honest, though. Tiger has the personality of a wet sock. He's not the most engaging interview ever. His game was just so transcendent people have created this aura around Tiger Woods that's not really there. (And, obviously, the golf media lathered praise on him for cultural reasons) But, when I hear people say "He doesn't have the personality of Tiger" I laugh. What personality?

Tiger's personality on the golf course was awesome though. So much swag.

Time will tell.

His footwork + him having his priorities in life in order = a precipitous drop in the next few years.

But honestly, not sure anyone will ever maintain this level for as long as Eldrick did. Seems impossible. But he is at that level right now.

ETA:

I'm rooting for him though. Seems like a good dude.

I think one thing helping Scottie stay more consistent that all others in this new wave of golfer is he isn’t married to a swing or a machine spitting out numbers

It allows him freedom to tweak and change small things when it isn’t going great.

He definitely goes out there and swings like an athlete and not a golf robot built at IMG as a kid (see 95% of pro golfers). The guy I occasionally get lessons from always tells me to do that, easier said than done

Scottie is a heck of a golfer and a pretty class act. I am glad he didn't have to choose between his baby being born and finishing the tournament. lol

Why not?

What was so attractive in tuning in to watch Tiger?

Scottie is just such an assassin out there that I get why people think he’s boring. He seems like an outstanding guy and like others have said, his interviews are fantastic.

What he needs is someone to challenge him late in these rounds so he can make some memorable/pressure shots.
