I really enjoy the way he plays golf. Kills the ball, has a funky swing, and stays aggressive.
Same. His swing is insane and the best ball striker we’ve seen since Tiger.

I guess some fist pumps, slamming clubs, and cursing is personality to them. I don't want to see that. The guy went out there and dominated against the best guys in the world. He's getting shite on because no one challenged him. Well how about the guys in contention stop chunking it in the water when the tournament is on the line?

Aberg was pretty dang good. Just ran into great today.
I like him. Great demeanor and beautiful swing.

There were 3 other players tied with Scottie at -6 with 11 holes to go. That’s being challenged. Scottie just started slamming birdies and forced everyone else to try and keep up and they all found their watery graves (or bushy grave) at Amen Corner.

Got Aberg for $430 in a Calcutta and cleared $2600 for the 2nd. Really impressed with him

The beauty of Schefflers game is that he forces you to play perfect golf. If you fall behind for a hole or two it’s over. There were plenty of challengers at the start of the day who were legitimately within striking distance. Saying he wasn’t challenged is nonsense. He put the hammer down on the back nine and the entire field collapsed in an effort to keep up with him.
Put him in red on Sunday with a Nike marketing campaign behind him and he’d be a superstar.

Sounds like Tiger in his prime.

let me know when Scottie wins a major by 15 strokes
Scottie is great, but when Tiger was in his prime he was basically playing a different sport than the rest of the field.

Scottie is so solid tee to green. When he putts well, he typically wins

It's not Scottie's fault, but the field is just a lot better now. His competitors will always be a lot closer to him than Tiger's were.

quote:Man you really are a golf affecianado eh? You have to go ALLLL THE WAYYYY BACK to the guy that won right before Rahm in 2022
When is the last time a Masters champion followed up their win with a great year the next time?
2022 winner- Scottie
2023- Scottie 10th place at -4
And let’s check the guy before that
2021 winner-Hideki
2022- Hideki 14th place
The only two masters champs recently to bomb is DJ and Rahm….Cut and 45th

Scottie was also elite T2G last year at the Masters. He just putted atrociously.

The broadcast seemed to be trying to force him to be the next big star in golf. For him to be the face of golf and I just don't think he has the personality for it. It's obvious they are still desperate to find the next face of golf in the post Tiger Woods era.
Tiger has always been known as a weird guy with an introverted personality. He didn’t become a superstar for his personality, he became one because he won a lot.
If anyone ever comes close to his level of success they too will become the face of golf.
It will take a whole lot more than winning two majors and a handful of PGA tour events. Scheffler or whoever the next superstar of golf is has a long way to go.

Scottie is the only golfer in his tier. He has gotten to that status

after 9 pga wins and 2 majors? seems you're jumping the gun and anticipating Scottie will stay in this form forever.
Koepka has more majors and he's tied with Rahm

That's a great point. Tiger's biggest competition for several years was David Duval, no disrespect to Duval, but there are 15+ players better than him in golf right now.

Vijay and Phil would be all-timers without Tiger’s dominance so that feels like a weak argument

The pregnancy changes all. Tiger was never a legit pregnancy. It's obvious if you look at his kids.
