Tim Duncan for sure. Kobe is borderline top 10. Duncan is like 7-8
This is correct.
Kobe is 10-12, Duncan is probably 8th.

Right, Kobe doesn't get any credit for those

Kobe by mile.
The last time Duncan led his team in scoring was SIX years ago.
Duncan hasn't averaged over 20 ppg in a season for the last TEN years. Only twice in the last twelve years. The last time he averaged over 10 rpg was SEVEN years ago and be is the GOAT PF of all time?
Duncan has played with David Robinson, Manu Ginobli, Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard, and LaMarcus Aldridge in their primes under one of the GOAT NBA coaches his entire career.
Kobe had Shag and Gasol in their primes for half his career.

The GOAT PF is not as as good as the GOAT of any of the other 5 positions. Duncan is GOAT PF but not even top 10 all time IMO.

So it's been decided, Phil > Pop

Kobe by a mile.
TD had TONS of help over his career. Just for fun, go look at those Kobe/Shaq team rosters. Yikes.
Also, wing>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>PF
ETA: Holy crap I agree with Boom. He even brought up the PF issue. Maybe it is TD...

A mile is an exaggeration...but you get my point.

Would take Duncan easily.

Tim Duncan is STILL in the top 20 in the league in defensive win shares. He turns 40 in two months.
He was 4th last year in the season that he turned 39.
Duncan led the league in defensive win shares 5 times, and led the league in defensive rating 4 times.
I'm not going to sit here and say Kobe wasn't a good to great defender at points throughout his career. But based off of offense and defense, Duncan was the best of the best at both ends at certain points.
I think Duncan was the all-around better player, and has had a better career. I think NBA GMs would absolutely take Duncan over Kobe, if they had to do it all over again.

Didn't he only play with The Admiral for like a year?

Timothy Theodore Duncan. Easily.
Yes, I am biased, of course.

Yeah, even I'm kinda tired of it, tbh

Posted on 2/19/16 at 2:15 pm to Byron Bojangles III
No. He was still a very very good player when they won their first title. He definitely willingly took a step back for Duncan. By the time he was out of his prime Manu and Tony were either brand new or not on the team at all IIRC. So that second title you can definitely say Duncan won "by himself"

They played together from the year Duncan was drafted up until 2003. Won titles together in 1999 and 2003

Robinson was on the decline...
Kobe has played with Shaq, Odom, Gasol, Ariza/Artest, and Howard
I'd say Odom and Gasol-prime would be the same compared to Ginobili and Parker-prime.
Shaq >>> Aging Robinson
Leonard-entering prime >>> Ariza/Artest
Howard 1 year > LMA 1 year (assuming duncan retires this year)
