David Robinson was my idol, but you gotta go with Tim. Have to. No question.

Without Duncan, these are probably the Memphis Spurs.

Don't think Durant will ever be the level of passer or defender to surpass Bird. Larry Legend was probably the best all-around perimeter player ever before Jordan and Lebron (and he was a better distance shooter than both).

Russell was on a team that was better than everyone else by a mile, and given the era he played in a career 15 PPG average isn't that impressive for a guy whose only real competition was Wilt.

dude, Bill Russell won 5 MVP's. F-I-V-E.

and that's how I view it. I have tiers of 5 and I don't care where you put them, as long as they are in their tiers. For example I have MJ, bird, kareem, magic, LeBron in my first tier. I have tim, kobe, shaq, Russell, baylor in the second

Are you fricking kidding me? LMFAO... With these ticky tact bullshite no contact rules... He would average 40+ a game. Jesus the people who have no idea about the history of the game... let me guess... Russel and Wilt only played against 6-2 white dudes their entire career as well? AMIRITE?

Kevin Durant will never surpass Larry Bird.

Particularly with 0 rings.

and, I'm just pointing out how difficult the 10 player cutoff is. Basketball is much better suited to a tiered ranking system.

I'm not going to look it up right now, but "holding" Shaq to 25/12 is a good day for most teams he averaged like 38/20 against the 6ers in the finals

Just stop. The athletes are bigger and better, the game is faster, and there is more parity among teams across the board.

Wilt would be a force, but not nearly head and shoulders the best player on the planet night in and night out like back in the day.

Durant is going to end up as the most efficient high volume wing scorer in NBA history, across the board.

I just found it funny you knock Kareem for playing in a different era but not Wilt. Hell, Kareem won a title with the fricken Bucks. Wilt didn't win a title till he got to LA

so wilt chamberlain in the 90s would just destroy hakeem, shaq, dikembe, david robinson, and ewing???? LOL ok man, relax, who was there to contain wilt but bill russell, and even vs him he averaged 29 pts and 29 rebounds over 142 matchups LOL if you think he was some insane athlete by todays standards. Shaq would have destroyed wilt, give me a break, you probably think bob cousy would tear up the NBA in 2016 too right??? john wall, derrick rose, lillard, steph curry, westbrook all hold no chance vs bob cousy. Hell patrick beverley would destroy cousy in every way imaginable in his prime, thats all you need to know about that era

I didnt knock kareem for it, just said wilt destroyed whose arguably the best defensive big ever so that means alot to me. 29 and 29 over 142 games says alot about wilt.

That's my point, not taking away Shaq's greatness or even compare the two, just that in the playoffs Duncan had better numbers head to head and that's unheard of against Shaquille.

Peak Timmy is not top-10 for me, but he was a great player for a long time. Career-wise he's top-10 for me.

Significantly less FTAs and personal fouls per game today than there were in that era.

Exactly.
