I doubt it.. His mental state is not strong enough to beat this course... As familiar he is with it he is NOT at a top 5 finish level.....

Last week he finished 32nd in a field lacking in star power. The guy shot 85 about a month ago.

It is not happening.

This doesn't seem like a troll attempt at all.

Are you his shrink?

Mentally, he can handle St. Andrews. His golf game handling it is another story.

He lead the field in proximity to the hole last week. He will work on his putting and play well. I don't think he will hit his driver well enough to win. That course rewards the long ball too much for him to hit irons off the tee and win.

I think he will do well, don't see him winning but it is a course he knows well and he has some growing confidence in his game. Put me down for C.

Would be shocked if he misses the cut at St Andrews. Basically like playing Augusta for him. I would expect something similar to his performance at the Masters. A couple good rounds mixed with a couple strugglish 73ish days leading to a Top 25 finish where he may have been in fringe contention on Saturday / Early Sunday.

His iron game is on point and his putting has been pretty good with a few expcetions (Chambers and the last 3 days at Greenbrier). Hes getting better with the driver. Fewer misses and mostly less drastic. He still has some loose short game shots that cost him from time to time but overall hes starting to show form and St Andrews just sets up perfect for him.

If his iron play is on like at Greenbrier and he gets the putter going he can easily contend. There really isn't a ton of trouble off the tee at the old course. Just certain bunkers to avoid. OB right in a couple places. Certain holes have gorse that comes in to play, but its mostly pretty open.

I'll go with a T-14th for Tiger with his best round coming whichever weekday he plays in the morning.

i'd like to see him contend ... the old course isn't all that difficult for the pros unless the wind is howling, and that would affect his drives considerably, but he is striking it better than any point this year ...

I think he will make the cut but I don't see him contending. Not enough consistency in his game at this point.

A - if he uses the driver and tries to play past the bunkers

C - if he leaves the driver in the bag, plays short of the bunker and capitalizes on his iron play

Spieth will play short of the bunkers next week and do just fine. Tiger does not even need a driver in the bag.

I actually think this is not out of the realm of possibility. The "Open" Championship is notorious for people coming out of no-where and win.

You never know.

It's gonna be tough for Tiger to leave his driver alone, especially in a major. I think he plays well, but will probably finish in the Top 40.
