With that said though, they also have to do something about the start and parks. You should be required to complete a certain % of laps in a given period.

I have to disagree with this. If a guy is fast enough to make the field, he should run his race the way he wants to, whether it be stroking it, charging hard, fuel strategy, or parking at the first pit stop.

Apparently one of the tests had about 15 cars are they were passing each other pretty well.

That would be a game changer for the fans. Kentucky was actually a really good race last year.

NASCAR thought attendance was about some whole "experience" type BS.

It's the product on the track, period. It's why the two plate tracks consistently have the best attendance. People want to see side by side racing.

Right. Not necessarily super fast, but close racing is what fans want.

Yup.

I don't know if the races I like the best are all close racing tracks, but my favorites are:

Daytona
Talladega
Martinsville
Bristol
Darlington
Pocono
Dover
and believe it or not Sonoma and Watkins Glen

I want to start a new thread for favorite tracks but think the MSB rantards will have a fit.

Hell, I love road courses. The driver is so much more a factor there.

Fans can't tell the difference between 200mph and 175mph, they just want close action.

I like the racing better in Dega than Daytona live and on TV

Granted, the Daytona 500 has more meaning, of course, but actual racing is better at Dega IMO

The only issue I don't like is that Michael Waltrip got two Charters. He went belly up and now gets to sell two charters. I bet Gibbs and SHR buy them. Both had a driver in the chase last year.

How messed up is it that a driver like Chase Elliott has a ride for next year but TWO chase drivers from last year (Busch and Edwards) don't have a ride!! That's pretty messed up

Would be cool, but I don't like driver side impacts.

favorite tracks

I love Richmond, Texas, and Atlanta. Daytona is well Daytona. I love the history of Indy, but it is not a NASCAR track IMO.

My least favorite are Dover, Pocono, Chicago, Kansas, and New Hampshire.

Texas seems to be blazing fast at night and Atlanta is usually fast and good end of race racing.

There's no better racing than at Bristol

Last years Bristol was not exciting. Theres only 1 groove, IIRC.

Well, now that you mention that I believe you are right.

Traditionally it was the best and most exciting

Bristol being one groove is what makes it exciting. About 10 years ago or so they repaved and added a second groove up high. This is what made the racing boring, cars could pass too easily. Having a single groove at Bristol is what makes the racing good. If a car is fast he has to use his bumper to get the slower cars out of his way.

I think the amount of money in the sport and drivers that are too PC has hurt places like Bristol just as much as the surface. Guys don't want to get their hands dirty and piss people off. Kenseth hitting Logano last year was great, but it was a huge deal because it doesn't happen that often anymore.

Seems like a big waste of time and money to qualify, start, then park the thing after 30 laps to me. They should impose some sort of penalty if the car can actually run a minimum speed but parked anyways. Not sure whether that should be financial or suspend them for a few races. It wouldn't be that hard to impose. And after the first month of races, you probably wouldn't see it anymore.
