There is no bonus for winning the Triple Crown?

For what I just read, there is no bonus for winning it.
Back in the late 80's/ early 90's, Visa was a major sponsor and offered a $5M bonus if it was won, but nothing is offered now.

Doesn't the horse have to do it himself for the resulting pony to be considered a true thorough bred?

You are a dumbass
Thoroughbred by definition means live breeding. You can not artificially inseminate and get paper as a thoroughbred. In fact not only is it live breeding, but the breeding is filmed so proof exists of the live breeding. When you spent that kind of dough you want to know you got what you paid for.
As for how many breedings and how long a stallion can remain in the shed (double if the send the stud down under in the off season) means a pretty sweet life of eating, sleeping, and breeding. In addition, to prevent a unwilling mare, you have a teaser take the bites and kicks so the stallion is not injured.

I'm sure they did just fine with their trashy monster energy sponsorships.
