The playoffs will wake the Cavs up and they won't look like this same bored team by then. Getting JR Smith back will help a lot too. They'll need everyone available to beat Golden State.

I love basketball. Would watch all 82 if I could.

But, IMO, the sweet spot is what we saw in the 2012 season. 66 games. I think 60-66 is enough to decide playoff positioning. Aside from deciding the last 2-3 seeds in each conference, the extra 16-22 really don't determine much.

60 games or so is enough. 40 is too little if a team were to miss key players early on (dirk for Dallas, jrue for new orleans) they'd be completely out of it.

Dallas is clawing their way back to the 8th seed right now, if they had 40 games they'd be home, 60 games and they might do what they need to
