Wednesday is actually day 2 of the event -- and the second round of qualies -- so I figured there was no reason not to go ahead and fire this bad boy up.

The qualification draw has 128 players for 16 spots in the main draw. Wednesday is the second round and then thursday's matches will give us the 16 who make it in the show. I don't know whether they make the draw that night or the next day, but either way we should be able to start breaking down the main draw by the end of the week.

The biggest question about the main draw-- and the elephant in the room of this tournament -- is whether those filthy frenchies are gonna put Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic on the same side of the draw. I really really really hope they don't because it will make for a much less interesting tournament.

Because, as I see it, there are only two men who have any chance of winning this tournament, and I've already mentioned their names. Djokovic is definitely the odds on favorite at this point. He's the best player in the world, and he's in fine form, and he wants this tournament badly. I have money on him in real life winning the whole thing, and I'm pretty confident that I didn't just give my money away in making said play.

Many of you will go with the "but you can never count out Nadal at Roland Garros" refrain, and I understand all that, but the guy can't just keep winning this tournament in perpetuity. He's gonna lose at some point, and I think this is the year. He's just not Rafael Nadal right now. The Rafael Nadal I know about doesn't lose twice to Fabio Focking Fognini on clay courts, and has no trouble summarily dispatching Stan Wawrinka. And for the love of all things sacred, he surely would never lose a match on the dirt to the likes of one Andy Murray.

Ugh. I feel queasy.

I'm looking forward to chatting with the usual tennis posters for the next two and a half weeks, and to those posters I say hello.

Rafa is done. It was fun while it lasted.

Murray won a couple of clay tourneys recently right?

I don't care how poor his form is. I would never bet against Nadal at the French until somebody knocks him off.

But, yes, Clayray did notch the first two clay court wins of his career this year. Good for him. I still don't see it happening. I just can't imagine him beating either Djoker or Rafa in a five set match on dirt.

BobbyRay, I think Andy Murray has a chance especially if he is the opposite side of Djoker and Nadal

But i'll do a list of guys who are more likely to win it than I am to win powerball.

Clayray
Kei
The great smug man
Berdy
Fognini
Kyrgios*

*If you play the tournament a million times, the guy with amazing talent and firepower has a puncher's chance, which is more than David Ferrer has.

He's currently playing like shite. Those 9 other RG trophies aren't going to help him play better.

bobbyray and systemsgo have the same number of syllables, but besides that I'm confused as to how you read the latter and somehow saw the former.

Oh well.

Some confidence would. He has none.

Hiding what? To the extent you're suggesting I might have posted here under a different username previously, I can assure you that isn't the case. Because, you see, alters aren't allowed here on tigerdroppings. So we can rule that out.

Yes. I already destroyed Madrid. I did lose some of that momentum by betting Rome when I knew I shouldn't be betting Rome (prime tanking time), but it wasn't much -- like 10 steps forward (madrid) and two steps back (rome), and so I'm just gonna have a short memory about rome and keep the good vibes rolling into RG.

Murray has no shot. It's Djokovic's to lose. Can't count Nadal out, he's been in relative poor form before ( def not this bad) and come in and won the French.
I want Djokovic to finally complete the career gland slam and keep the calendar slam alive.

He was in this position is 11 and I think he lost to Fed in the semi

That's the way to do it.

Fed did that little twirl thing with his finger as he walked up to the net for the handshake.

But then Djoker raised the roof to the USO crowd with Federer serving for the match, and won the point and the match.

I did not.

ETA: I actually put a tiny sprinkle on Nadal, and that was the third play I'd lost in the previous like 16. Madrid was good to me.

That was fricking crazy, he had a ridiculous return on one of those match points.
I still remember this because I had money on Fed in that game at some pretty great odds. Big time choke. It was double match point too I think.
