Our lineups are pretty much identical. I would use all the same bats, but i think I would swap Mays and Williams in the order as well as Honus and Schmidt.

I would find a way to include Walter Johnson and maybe Christy Mathewson in that rotation. Not sure of pitching limits. Rivera in the ninth.

I'll play:

1-Clemens/Maddux/Johnson/Rivera
2-Berra
3-Gehrig
4-Robinson
5-Brett/Boggs
6-ARod
7-Williams (ain't even close)
8-Griffey
9-Ruth
DH-Ortiz

come at that lineup either if you have the ball in your hand (defense) or your not allowed to touch the ball (offense)...good trivia question: which sport is the offense not allowed to touch the ball?

ETA- Manager: Pete Rose

Verlander...bro? let's play:

Ichiro over Ruth at 9?
Sandberg over Jackie at 4?
Pujols might be a push at best over the IronHorse at 3.
Bonds over The Greatest Hitter Ever at 7?
I'll even give you Schmidt over Brett, just because of the stache at 5.
I'm going ARod over Mr. Lunchpail at 6.
Berra over Pudge at 2...glue behind 10 championships.
Griffy over Jones at 8.
Team will be managed by Pete Rose

Pitching is tough to analyze over the years, so I went with power and consistency and accuracy. No free bases from my starters; remember Maddux's 20K batters and only 300 saw a 3-0 count?

I tell my son when he's on the mound: "Chics dig the groundball, son. We don't need strikeouts; we need few pitches and off-balance hitters...Now go 'em, Tiger." [he's a shutout machine]

He will also need to know Long balls equal ratings which equal chicks.

Ill put my line up vs yours Chaz. But do I get to keep Gibson, since I added him late?

It used to be Spahn and Sain and pray for rain...well now its Batter up because my lineup will score and catch the ball.

Williams over Mantle, Koufax over Spahn, prime A-rod (i.e. roided up) over either Cal or Schmidt. Would like to put Frank Robinson, Ken Griffey Jr. and Josh Gibson in as well but can't bump any of those outfielders or Gehrig.

1B Gehrig (good choice)
2B Morgan (not over Jackie...no-sah)
SS Ripken, Jr (not over ARod at his best)
3B Schmidt (gave the stache the advantage)
LF Bonds (not over Ted Williams; I've got a PR named Ricky Henderson, too)
CF Mays (another good choice, but Griffey is more updated and modern with a pure swing and speed to get to any ball)
RF Ruth (good choice)
C Bench vs. Berra..you might get more hits, but we won't give up runs. Berra is the greatest game-manager ever.
DH Mantle (no bigger clutch hitter in the history of the game than Papi...A DH who was World Series MVP? Papi.)

I'll put my pitchers against anyone...ever. Never get down in the count.
(Clemens/Maddux/Johnson/Rivera...all day.)

In case people have no clue, Turnpike Stadium is now a dust field but sits on Tom Landry Highway.

Greatness all around. After the game we can walk down to Six Flags.

ETA:

Im trying to tell the HYC fans on the SECr that UP runs that state, but they think Bryant College Station is the bestest.

Bench was as good a game manager as Berra. Compare the staff that Bench caught compared to who Berra. Bench also had to catch more pitchers per game because Sparky Anderson was not know as Captain Hook for nothing. He was better defensively, better arm to throw out runners, better bat. Berra was great, Bench changed the way catchers play the game.

There was a picture I saw somewhere that had Bench holding 5 baseballs in his hand, it was amazing. Johnny Bench was also the first one handed catche I believe.

Were those strike shortened years? Seems like I'd remember a team going on a run like that.

What? The late 90s/ early 2000s had WAY more stars!
