re: The story will be about the interference call, but what a dumb decision

Have you really never heard throwing behind the runner be used that way? My coaches growing up used to use it like that, my high school coach used it like that. I worked at a baseball facility managing cages and coaching under a guy with 30 years junior college coaching experience and a son who played in the major leagues and he used it like that too

It doesn't even make sense. How are you throwing behind the runner if he hasn't even reached the base at the time of the throw?
Posted on 10/26/13 at 11:22 pm to Tiger1242
no, absolutely not. why would that be called throwing BEHIND the runner when it has absolutely nothing to do with being BEHIND the runner?
sorry you grew up with idiot coaches.

Again, if the had made it force out at all bases, it's gonna be a double play.
I have no idea why they left first open.
Mind blowing.
That will be the actual story

Broh, he is on another level than you. do not question throwing behind the runner

Well if they walk him, he doesn't ground to second, so we won't really know what would have happened, but I agree, you have to walk him.

Because he's already there, the way I'm reffering to using it would be like bobbling a ground ball and then trying to make a throw to first even though the runner is going to beat it out.
The throw there at the end was borderline, I mean it would have been pretty close I guess, but it's not a throw you make in that situation.
Honestly I've been around multiple baseball circles and it's pretty common terminology for coaches that I've seen
Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack my own thread, dumb play right there

I don't know why that's funny, I'm not claiming to be some hot shot baseball insider, I'm just explaining where I got the saying from

Travel ball for 8 year olds. do you coach and wear a flat bill hat with wayfarers?
Posted on 10/26/13 at 11:30 pm to Tiger1242
Regardless of the terminology, I think it was close enough to warrant a throw, but I could see how some what say he should have ate it.
Posted on 10/26/13 at 11:31 pm to Tiger1242
It was definitely close enough for Salty to try to shoot him, bro.
My first thought was "eat it!" But upon review, he had 4 steps to make when he looked up at the baserunner from second.

With Kozma on deck you have to walk for the force. He sucks and is a dp or strike out waiting to happen.

That call was horseshite. What the hell do you want Middlebrooks to do? Crawl over out of the way? His feet weren't in the basepath. fricking screwjob plain and simple. Jim Joyce needs to frick off from everything.

I don't know why you have to come in here and be a jackass. I've never coached an 8 yr old travel team. I did however manage a baseball facility and talk baseball with all the coaches that came up there. And the guy I worked with was an ex junior college coach with a son who played in the majors. As well as my own experiences playing baseball.
I'm not trying to act like some jackass guy here, maybe all of the people I've heard use it that way use it incorrectly

I dk, I felt this way at first too, but now I think it was the right call. I means he did interfere with the play

Although you are right here I'm guessing you quit playing baseball in about the 3rd grade due to "weight issues".

What a terrible obstruction call.

If it were true about me, there would be a 100% chance that's how I would respond.
Sorry buddy.
