The court system is run with the general principles of a democracy.

The NFL is run as Roger the Dictator.

Of course, there are going to be issues.

I think what Brady is being held to is total foolishness, but the Saints were held to the same level of foolishness.

It's more obvious every day that the Saints players and SP should have filed suit against the NFL.

The players did and eventually got off of all their suspensions, although it was done by Tags in something of a face saving move. As I understand the coaches didn't have the same recourse because they didn't have union protection.

Well that is what happens when you get caught breaking the rules.

The players did file suit

The coaches really has no legal ground to stand on. At will employment, no union, and no partnership

Has anyone been able to show that the Patriots gained some sort of competitive advantage through the use of these footballs?

Breaking a rule =/= cheating.

Yeah, I'm a Saints fan. I think Bountygate was BS, other teams did similar things. But I would MUCH rather my team be the bad guys with the black hats who won a Super Bowl, then the good guys that really try hard and lose. I saw too much of that shite with the Saints in my lifetime.
If I'm a Pats fan, my attitude is that other fan bases hate us because they ain't us. That's probably really close to the truth. It isn't Brady's fault that he's great looking, at the top of his profession, rich and married to a supermodel.

TRUMP has Brady's back

quote:

Donald Trump sits behind his desk on the 26th floor of Trump Tower in Manhattan. It is 2pm, and he has just got off the phone with America’s most famous football player, Tom Brady.

And in another article today (too lazy to find and link) he sides with BRADY over Goodell saying BRADY is a great guy, a winner and a great American

Would you turn your private phone over to the NFL & Roger Goodell? I wouldn't under any circumstance. These are the people that would potentially leak anything to the press that is on your phone so it would help their case no matter what it was. Anyone in their right mind knows not to trust Goodell & the NFL after what they have pulled over the last 5 years.

This makes a LOT of sense.

I have recently done a complete 180 on this from #TeamNFL to #TeamBrady

If they're breaking the rules they are cheating… Pretty simple stuff here.

Well, if the collective bargaining agreement indicates that you must, and you choose not to, I would think that any punishment as a result would be expected.

It's not reasonable to ignore the collective bargaining agreement because you unilaterally decide that you can't trust the NFL.

The NFL seems to be the group repeatedly ignoring the CBA

The CBA has a punishment for tampering with balls btw. It is a small fine

More:

quote:

As Kessler stated that, "Player policies say you can't be punished for being 'generally aware,' " Berman nodded vigorously.

Berman then asked, "Can Mr. Brady be fined under the equipment policy?"

Kessler answered, "Yes, but the 'generally aware' problem trumps that."

Berman replied, "I read that and find that the 'general awareness' doesn't relate to the Jan. 18 game," to which Kessler said, "Outstanding observation."

What do you mean? If Tom Brady wore Johnny Unitas high-top sneakers, he would be breaking NFL uniform rules. That's not cheating.

Then, it turns out the NFL knew about it before the game and tried to catch them in the act instead of stopping it from happening

Can someone please elaborate on this? I've seen it mentioned or alluded to in several posts in a few different threads, but I missed this part of the ordeal. A link or reference would be appreciated.
