More so than the NHL considering when the playoffs started? Second round for both leagues are close to being wrapped up

The difference is, of course, that the NHL playoffs are competitive. Every second round series went at least 6 games, and at least two will go 7.

Furthermore, there are genuine upsets. In the West, the 8-seed in the conference finals and in the East, the 7-seed is still alive. Two division winners failed to make it out of the first round, and two more are in a Game 7. It takes the same time as the NBA playoffs, but there is actual tension.

The NBA right now has the problem that two teams are just crushing the league. It should make for a great Finals, but it does seem like we're just killing time until we get there. And the Wizards-Celtics series is pretty great.

Wow, those charts really go to show how dedicated the MLB fan base is compared to NBA tho. It may be less popular overall, but that chart confirmed what I always thought and that there more people who are really into baseball than really into basketball. Small sample but it's a decent representation.

Disagree.

I enjoy me some playoff basketball. As a season long endeavor like NFL? Nope.

The NBA's product is improving while the NFL's continues to decline (teams holding cities hostage and leaving when they won't pay for a rich dude's new stadium, over-commercialized games that drag out for over three hours, boring rule changes that ruin the excitement of the game).

The NHL is a niche league and always will be, also fricked itself with bad tv deals.

Give me the NBA over either of those leagues any damn day.

NHL has the best playoffs by a mile, NFL is #2, MLB is #3, and NBA is #4

Heck id rather watch soccer over NBA playoof

It's funny. I bet a lot of people complaining about the lack of parity in the NBA are also the first ones complaining about welfare and entitlement programs. All of the other team sports especially the NFL and NHL are the sports equivalent of affirmative action. The best team often doesn't win. Having the best record in the regular season means nothing. The playoff fields are oversized and bloated. In other sports, you have a team that couldn't even win half their games in the regular season (2012 LA Kings) win the Stanley Cup, a 83-78 Cardinals team in 2006 win the World Series and a 9-7 team (2011 Giants) win the Super Bowl. Those sports don't award excellence. The NBA does and I like to see greatness being awarded time and time again even if some people don't.

Didn't the Rockets last championship team with Drexler and Olajuwon barely win half it's games?

Only the lowest-seeded team to win the NBA title (W6).

I don't see what difference it makes how long ago it was. It still happened. The 2006 Cardinals and 2012 Giants teams that won it all were fluke teams that got suddenly hot at the right time. Pardon me for not buying the "other leagues have mediocre teams winning championships" nonsense when it's quite infrequent when it actually happens.

We all know ONLY football and basketball players are considered overpaid. And we know why it's said. All athletes are paid according to the overpriced tickets fans continue to buy.

And yes, the NBA only matters during the Finals.
