Wouldn't you think someone would give him a scholarship , even a small school or D2 or D3 school and then he could have a better chance at the NFL after college
He plays for the Las Vegas Locomotives in the USFL so he's a pro now. His eligibility is now gone.

How often do people go to jail for perjury? It's incredibly hard to prove and more likely than not a waste of time to bring the claim. People lie all the time on the stand.

I really hate that you have to watch commercials on the fricking internet.

Why did he plead guilty? Terrible legal advice?
i've represented guys in a similar situation before, and i used to ask my friends what they'd do
assuming you're 100% innocent, and let's say you're 50/50 to win at trial. if you win, you walk, if you lose, you do life. plea offer is plead to a felony, do sex offender registration, and you get out today
what if it's 75/25?

the reason why she is not going to jail is because "it will discourage other false accusers from coming forward and exonerating the innocent" pretty much they don't want to scare other girls who lie about being raped from doing the right thing eventually, which is kind of BS.
It's not BS, it's the truth... if a girl knows she'll go to jail b/c she lied about it, what are the odds she'll come forward?.... next to zero.
I agree that it's a screwed up situation, but that's just the way it is... if the accuser has the choice of keeping the accused in jail or putting herself there, she's gonna choose herself every time.

it would all depend on circumstance... like if I was facing something similar to Kobe's accuser, I'd like my chances... if it's the opposite situation, I feel pretty confident I'd take the plea deal.

Obviously the second he went to 6 teams mini camps he was done but why go... Why not pursue a college scholarship and get an education while readjusting to football giving himself a more realistic shot at pro ball

if im 100% innocent i fight til the day i die. not dragging my family name in the mudd for an easy plea. if im 99% innocent i take the plea

People plead guilty every day in America to crimes they didn't commit.
The #1 reason I heard from defendants as a prosecutor was..."I don't have time/money to fight this...I need to get back to work...let me accept your plea offer - do my time served and let me go."

I remember a case a few years ago where some Atlanta teenagers were accused of statutory rape and all except one pleaded guilty to avoid possible jail time, but one, on the advice of his parents, decided to fight it to keep this off his record. He was convicted and had to spend some time in prison, but eventually the conviction was overturned on appeal. The court decided that statutory rape laws weren't meant to prevent teenagers from having sex when there's less than a three-year age difference, especially when both the male and the female are minors.

The bottom line of this whole situation is some girl lied about getting raped, got a lot of money, blew it and suffered no other consequences while some innocent kid spent 5 years in jail and got his chance at higher education and possibly a professional NFL career destroyed in the process.
I had this on yesterday and was sort of half-arse watching it. But when I got the gist of what had happened, I was instantly furious. Got even more pissed when I realized that she would suffer exactly zero consequences for all of it. It's fricking sad, and I hope that dude achieves his goals and makes the league.
frick that lying stupid count.

Man I can't even begin to describe what I hope happens to that stupid count.
