70 years ago yesterday, Bill Sianis was denied admission to Game 4 of the World Series, when he attempted to bring his pet goat. Siania, owner of Billy Goats Tavern (of SNL fame), then put a curse on the Cubs, stating that they will never make another World Series.

Cubs would go on to lose that World Series to the Tigers, and haven't made one since.

Will the curse end at 70?

It will be a sad day when that "curse" is gone. Not because I don't like the cubs, but because the cubs are the last team with any mystique to them. The Red Sox overcoming their "curse" was a huge moment but a decade later now the RS's are just another team with a great ballpark. If cubs win, it will be epic, but also the end of an era which would be sad.

Can we back up and point out how this guy is a unreasonable a-hole?

NO, you can't bring a fricking goat to a baseball game. Cursing the fricking because they pointed that out is just dickish as frick.

frick this guy. Hope he at some point got beat up.

Go Cubs.

not a curse. Just a player overreacting and a manager failing to manage the situation.

The Cleveland Indians haven't won a Series since 1948. We can always figure out what caused that curse.

The Cubs invited the billy goat on the field to led the parade prior to first pitch. He supposedly asked if the goat could stay and was told only if he bought the goat a ticket. He was asked to leave in the 4th inning due to the smell, guessing the Cracker Jacks didn't mesh well with the goat's stomach.

Yet South Carolina lets a chicken go to a game.

The A's had an elephant.

I hope the curse lasts forever.

Was Boston's really a curse? I mean we have documentation that Sianis cursed the Cubs publicly, but did anyone actually curse the Red Sox, besides their fans self-defeatist attitude?

With all due respect, I'm going to assume you were born in the 90s.

No, I'm 40 years old and fully aware of the Curse of the Bambino. I was just asking if it was a formal curse from somebody or just something their fans and sports writers invented to explain their team's bad luck for over 80 years.

Fair enough. I just thought it was a curious question as the curse of the Bambino is really well known to the older crowd. No offense.

Because it is all mythology, it is hard to say for certain. Some people claim the Babe did it. Some say it was just Shaugnessy's bullshite made up thing. In either event, I'm not sure we'll ever have a definitive answer to the question.

You mean their fricking mascot

Last time I checked the mascot of the Chicago Cubs was a fricking cub.
