IIRC
- Seaver had a contract offer from LA Dodgers
- He asked for a $70k signing bonus
- Dodgers say nah, frick that
- Seaver plays another year for USC
- After that year the Braves offer Seaver a contract and he accepts
- MLB comes in and count punts the contract because USC had played 2 "exhibitions" or something
- Seaver then decides to play another year at USC but the NCAA says "nah, frick you" because he had signed a contract EVEN THOUGH the contract was nullified
- Seaver then either a year later or the same year is back on the market but the Phillies, Mets, and Indians are allowed to match the Braves and they do
- Seaver is then awarded to the Mets following a lottery drawing
TL, DR: Braves got fricked, Seaver got fricked
