Though I'll try not to get my hopes up based on previous experience.

Source: Braves making push for 'Lazarito'

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- Cuban prospect Lazaro Robersy Armenteros Arango, known as "Lazarito," is expected to sign with a Major League team next week, and the Atlanta Braves are among the teams making a strong push to acquire the teenage outfielder.

According to industry sources, the Braves are scheduled to hold a private workout for Armenteros, 16, on Saturday at the club's academy in San Pedro de Macoris. Armenteros, ranked No. 8 on MLB.com's Top 30 International Prospects list, is expected to command a signing bonus in the $15 million to $20 million range, but that number could rise if teams get into a bidding war.
Armenteros was declared a free agent by Major League Baseball last month. He can sign with a team starting Feb. 10.

Jesus, if we get him, this may be the greatest influx of non-major league talent ever gathered by one team in a single calendar year.

Why not? Don't believe he would affect our June 2 signings.

No, he is. We would be out on this year's J2 kids if we signed him.

No we have not incurred any penalties for our 15-16 signings. We are reportedly planning to spend a record amount and incur max penalties in the upcoming period.

If the kid is willing to wait for his money, he could always wait until June to sign. Doubt it happens though.

Might be tough convincing a 16 year old kid to wait until july when you have the cubs and dogers already at max penalty.

But I doubt the cubs would commit that much to someone that far away from the majors. Too bad the dodgers get everybody.

Obviously I'd love it if we could get him to wait but if he doesn't he's definitely not worth not being able to sign the J2 haul.

We are going to spend so much in the overage tax.
