1939 NSU Football. Undefeated, untied. Outscored opponents 195-18.

the league shut down, skipped the 2009 season and restarted again in 2010, and the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings moved to NOLA to become the new VooDoo... I do applaud Dan Newman the owner for moving them to NOLA, but he doesn't have enough money to market or put a competitive team on the field...

No USL basketball teams? What about the mid1970's team with Bo Lamar, Roy Edron, etal. Coached by B Shipley. They were a Top 10 team.

The 1931 Tulane team merited ranking on its own and should claim a national championship. They were undefeated and while the lost in the Rose Bowl to USC, USC wasn't undefeated and national titles were determined prior to the bowls.

Somewhere in my Top 10 would be the Woodlawn HS basketball team of 02-03... won 50-something in a row and back-to-back state titles. Best team I've ever seen, even better than the St.Aug national championship team.

I get it that they lost 2 games, but they won a National Championship!......

This list is awful. Haha. I mean 1991 Saints are higher than 2007 LSU.

And where are some of the great New Orleans Buccaneer teams? (That parts a joke)

Tulane football in the 1920s and '30s (especially the '25, '31, '34, and '39 teams)

Funny, that was also a period when SMU, TCU, Rice were powerhouses.

All 4 schools are similar. WTF was going on back then with the private schools in TX-LA?

Shreveport Captains dominated Texas League in early to mid 90s and had the best record in all of minor league baseball at one point.

i would strike the zephyrs in 98 and 01 from the list as that's more of a product of the Houston Astros success of the time...

They were NAIA National Champions.
LINK

But does that make them the #3 team in Louisiana sports HISTORY???

Nah. Each of LSU's Final 4 teams were bigger accomplishments than that.
