The 2016-17 NBA season offered some of the best basketball we've seen in modern history — but it was far from perfect. Either due to unfair expectations, injury, or a monster dose of regression, some of the Association's biggest names came up short this season. Here are the seven players who disappointed us the most in 2016-17 (not including the young Los Angeles Lakers, because honestly, that wouldn't be fair).

Dwight Howard, Atlanta Hawks
Chandler Parsons, Memphis Grizzlies
Kristaps Porzingis, New York Knicks
Victor Oladipo, Oklahoma City Thunder
DeMarcus Cousins, New Orleans Pelicans
Andre Drummond, Detroit Pistons
Blake Griffin, Los Angeles Clippers

And who expected him to be great? He's not the same Dwight anymore.

If Dwight's been a disappointment, then someone was vastly overrating him. He's actually played better than I thought he would.

Same here, I mean he is averaging a double double. That is essentially all I was looking for

Maybe I have a bias, but I don't think Drummond was that disappointing. He averaged almost 14/14 despite a slow start.

Dipo? He was right on his career average in scoring, and posted career highs in almost every shooting category.

Westbrook has no help narrative has made people think oladipo is trash. He's a really good player.

Oladipo needed to be the Thunder 6th man. He has been reduced to a spot up shooter. His talent with the ball in his hand and slashing to the basket has been hurt by playing aside another guard who needs the ball and 3 other players who don't stretch the floor.

He needs other good players around him to max his potential, but he had a good seasons while being banged up. He was the only reliable guard all year consistently. Roberson, he just needs to stop shooting but doesn't know how.

I few bad for Porzingis. I don't watch the Knicks, but it has to be tough for him to progress in that situation and he really didn't have a bad year

What we got instead was a team that struggled when Cousins and Davis were on the court together yet flourished when one or the other flew solo.

I feel like most of the national sports media watched the first 6-7 games after the trade, formed their opinion and stopped watching right when the two started to figure out how to play together, started posting great net ratings when sharing the court, and winning games. Oh well.

The section about Boogie is piss poor. Zero numbers to back up the claims the author makes. It looks more like he's attributing his feeling as fact and saying that Boogie in NO failed because they didn't tear the league a new one from day one.

I was certain Al Horford would be listed here.
