All teams can argue something like that. Take out JJ Hoover blowing games, and the Reds were .500 last year. All part of it.

I agree. Maybe I shouldn't talk to those type Cubs fans.

Understood. My point was that the WC2 is a huge deal, and little things like that can get a team in.

Bye bye Veras, and hello Grimm, Strop, Ramirez, & Rondon.

That is why baseball is called a game of inches.

It makes a world of difference. Hell, I don't even talk to them. Meatball Cub fans piss me off.

If I were a Cubs fans it would me also. Hell, it pisses me off because I know more about the Cubs than most of them. My former boss was the worst. He went to Wrigley and all he came back and talked about was sitting in the bleachers and getting drunk. Nothing about the games or anything. A lot like Bama side walkers they are.

Man, a 10-13 game jump from last season is gonna be tough.

We're talking about a team that went 50-54 after the month of May last season. The majority of that time was without a real ace in their rotation and a gas can in Edwin Jackson. Throw Jon Lester in the mix and stick anyone in the rotation that can simply just not lose 15 games and have an ERA over 6.00 and it isn't that far fetched. That's not even asking any of the minor leaguers to do anything.

Throw out a true leadoff hitter that can have an OBP of .360 in Dexter Fowler instead of .300 like Cubs leadoff hitters in 2014 and a solid catcher and this year's team is looking drastically different than last year's team.

Real fans of baseball see the Cubs farm system for what it is: A shitload of potentially great bats in an otherwise power lacking MLB.

Right
Cubs fans see it as a shitload of guaranteed great bats in the major leagues.

Agree

It's just not very often teams can make a 15 game leap in one year. I'm all for it though

I've got no problem with this. The team was bad, you make the best out of a bad situation. You catch the cubs 4th or 5th pitcher vs. the opposing teams dregs, what else is there?

No, this was back in either 07 or 08 when the Cubs made the playoffs last. He hardly knew a single player on the team, but he claimed Cub love. Had Cubs gear, etc.

Just to pander to the "all cubs fans think ___" crowd...the cubs jumped 19 games from 2006 to 2007, 12 games from 2007 to 2008, 22 games from 97 to 98. So basically it's a grantee we gonna do it. Oh and a 14 game jump from 2008 to 2009...the wrong way.

Oh well the cubs dominated that year. No need to watch..it was a foregone conclusion the cubs were going to win. Good for him for taking in the sights and enjoying the atmosphere.

To each his own. I prefer being sober so I can remember what I saw, but as I said to each his own.

Ahh the Hendry years. Buy talent, no trade clauses, trade farm.

I appreciate the playoffs (behind home plate when Drew cracked one off Marmol in 2007, and 3rd base line watching Zambrano losing his shite in 2008), but I have bad memories of those "year after" teams.

there are plenty of people who are fans of wrigley more than the cubs. There's nothing wrong with that. I, unlike you, wouldn't try to engage them in discussion, but the way they experience something doesn't bother me as a fan. Hell there have been plenty of games where my score card starts neat and ends about the 6th with squiggly lines all over the place.

But he did sign baez...which remains to be seen if we praise him or tack on another 'oh jim' to it.

also, soler has 2 rbi so far today. I don't want to jinx it, but I think Hack Wilson's record might be in jeopardy.

Check out the highlight on Gameday, unless you are watching it. Nice hustle by Soler & Baez
