The point another player made is that this is ridiculous. Very simple and easy NCAA rule that can be changed, but they won't because they do things the hard way.

It has more to do with classes staring at many of these schools in January either before or around when the CFP Final is. So you expect schools to get a player evaluated, enrolled and then behind in classes 3-4 weeks into the semester?

It sucks, but if you want to fix this, end college football and turn it into a professional minor league for the NFL. Stop using universities and colleges for training pro athletes at no cost by those leagues.

That’s not what this is. This bad for both Murphy and Texas. Both are getting screwed. The NCAA calendar has to be changed.

What?
The NCAA nor UT made HIS decision to transfer, he did. Let’s not pretend his decision was based upon a different direction in future academic endeavors. It was a business decision based purely upon NIL opportunities($$$), exposure, and chasing an NFL dream.

A lot of overreaction in this thread. Texas isn’t beating UW or Bama with Murphy (theoretically, now) or Manning having to save the day.

Murphy wasn’t exactly wow’ing everyone and looked extremely green. He has a lot of potential and hope he lands in a good place.

Damn 2 transfers in 2 years.

He is on pace for 5 transfers in his college years. Thats a red flag.

Will he do better than the 1 tackle he had in the first game?

I would’ve hoped that it was obvious that the point of my post was that Dallas Turner is a dirty piece of shite who tries to intentionally injure the opposing team’s QB, but apparently it has to be spelled out for some people.

It's football junior. Get used to it.

What Dallas Turner is, is a consensus All-American edge rusher who will go very early in the 1st round.

Ewers is the starter and Sark knows if arch isn't the backup the fans are going to revolt.

I think the fans have learned to trust in Sark. Really I was just trying to say that it was expected Quinn was going to leave. Then Maalik probably would have stayed to battle with Arch for the starting position and possibly hit the portal in spring. But with Quinn coming back he knew he wouldn’t start and you’re right, Arch would likely be second string.

Murphy made some great throws this year, but it pretty evident how raw he was. He was horrendous in the second half against K State and his refusal to run at his size is tough too. Arch at least shows some mobility.

No doubt. I'm surprised this isn't obvious to most people. I wonder if any of the schools on the quarter system could take advantage of this.

My bad I forgot he never actually went to OSU. Looks like he’s headed there now though.

This is fricking 2009 all over again. Texas is gonna play bama. Quinn is gonna get hurt on the third play of the game. Garrett Gilbert (arch manning) will come in and go 15-40 for 125. 3 picks 1 lost fumble and 2 tds. Texas loses 21-35.

Family name alone is all I need to know Arch is better than Gilbert.

If Quinn goes down I'll be nervous. Manning family historically does well against Alabama. Archie and Eli won 2 each. Ole Miss only has 10 wins total against Alabama.

Peyton beat Alabama 3 times.

Absolutely no fricking way I would welcome a kid who bails on his team while getting ready for the playoffs. That kid screams cancerous locker room problem.

Archie and Eli were actually good. Arch is only playing P5 football because of his last name.

This is a ridiculous take. A lot of people on this site will eat their words when Arch gets his opportunity.

If it's about classes, stop letting them transfer mid-school year. You're allowed to transfer in the summer. Hope you can beat out the guys that were there for all of spring practice.

Would probably slow the rate of kids jumping ship at the first sign of adversity. Go after the starting spot at the school you're at, or compete against someone that's had a half an offseason of prep time over you.

He seems to be a good kid. I think it’s more of a rule issue. Because the portal is open so early, QB spots are getting filled. Who knows what that looks like if he doesn’t hit the portal until New Year’s Day.

I don’t agree with his decision, especially because there’s a possibility he could play in the playoffs, but it’s kind of where college football is right now, which sucks.

Tell these transfers that they have to sit out half a season.....the second half of the season.
