Texas High School Football Questions

I just move to Texas and I am trying to figure out the playoff groupings. They have 2 divisions for each classifications all the way down to the 6-man leagues. My question is why do they do this and how to they determine the splits? Also, with all the schools having great stadiums why are all the games at neutral sites?

Div I = larger school in classification
Div II = smaller school in classification
The UIL has the details on their site. There's BS on why, but it boils down to money. The more teams in the playoffs generate more $$$.
Neutral sites, especially as you get deeper in the brackets, make sense for travel. Who wants to travel from El Paso to Marshall or Brownsville to Amarillo to play a game?

What's interesting is that the small/large school determination is made on the district level - meaning the Texas Div I champion might have a smaller enrollment than the Div II champ. But it just works out that way depending on the districts.
I will say this, it has really helped some schools that were on the low end of a class to become first time champs/powerhouses.

It's unstable for a few reasons. One is that there are simply too many titles awarded. 12 not counting private classifications. And you sometimes have 2 or 3 win teams awarded with a playoff birth since so many teams are let in now.
But what really sucks is when you have 2 great teams in 5A, say Southlake and Katy, and they won't even play each other in the playoffs.
It is a money maker though.

Someone who had 30 game winning streak in playoffs or something got beat Pflugerville maybe? I know Permian got beat by a team from El Paso for first time in 30+ years also tonight.

Lake Travis in the Austin area - had won 5 straight 4A titles and this was their first year in 5A.

When each district sends the top 4 teams to the playoffs.....Winning the District Championship doesn't mean nearly as much as it did. I remember a time when only the Dist Champ went to the playoffs and 2 undefeated teams met at the end of the season and a one loss team stayed home.

Highland Park was one of them as well as Lake Travis.
But on other odd notes, Savoy won in 6-man. This was their first playoff appearance since 1941.
And Whitesboro (the team which last year made the playoffs for the first time in the team's 100 year history) made the playoffs again (dropping down a level helped) but lost.
