Exactly. They reinforced his point that ESPN promotes and protects those at ESPN. If you don't, they suspend/fire you. If Carter doesn't have a significant role on ESPN, he's still not in the HOF.

I think Carter is a HOF'er but I always wonder how guys feel when they have to beg to get in. Wouldn't you want to get in on merit, not because you called in some favors?
That's all these media jackoffs want, to feel needed, to feel important. Cris Carter basically asked for their approval so he got in. I'm sure that's what they want TO to do, beg, so they can feel needed.
They should fire the whole lot of anyone that didn't vote TO in and get people in there that don't make decisions like emotional females.

It really is. It's bad enough that he said it, but where he said it is the most shocking thing. To make that kind of statement at a meeting for rookies on how to handle life in the NFL, when you are brought in to be an expert and give great advice is just mind blowing.
Yeah it's crazy how little coverage that got.

That had to hurt Mike and Mike. The arse kissing that goes on when Carter comes on is unbearable

Bayless as a writer in Dallas was incredible.
I have always said that Bayless during his first couple of years into his ESPN run was very good. Always playing Devils advocate, good supporting facts, and a little showmanship too. He became too much a caricature.
Also I read some of his stuff especially after seeing him on the SMU "30 for 30" very good.

Just my opinion, the NFL asked for it to be buried. I do not blame them either. Disney has to know not bite the hand that helps feed them. But people like TMZ or whomever dropped it also, which made it puzzling.

He's going off on First Take right now

Going after Mariuchi, says Mooch never liked him

Mooch had a love affair for Jeff Garcia. Also Mooch was a sub-par coach.

Man this exchange between TO and Skip is awkward as frick
Posted on 2/10/16 at 9:16 am to WalkingTurtles
He's killing Skip. Skip was saying he talked to anonymous players while in SF saying that TO was an "I". TO shut him up and "why don't you put a name to it. I don't play like that" The face on Skip was priceless
Posted on 2/10/16 at 9:18 am to Fus0623
I expected him to go after skip with the Team Obliterater tag he used to pull.

Ochocinco trying to break the animosity in the room. I gotta say, I hate First Take with all my heart, but this is some great morning T.V. Right now. Owens came ready

I believe it.

The media has overhyped modern athletes to no end & Carter isn't unusual.
Wide Receivers are always going to be tough to choose with rule changes & receivers easily putting up numbers today.
Lynn Swann caught a little over 300 receptions & he's in.
Cliff Branch of the Raiders dwarfs Swanns numbers & has 3 Super Bowl wins ,but is not in.
It's political & nothing to get worked up over.

It's not just politicking - it's lawyer-like convincing.
They make long presentations - and there is really no debate just shaming - and feel-good mob mentality...how Dungy got in.
Some guys carry a lot of weight...for years it was Dr. Z (which is why Stabler never got in until Z was removed) and the past 5 years it's that Northeast liberal Peter King as the ring-leader and master of elections.
He loved Favre, Dungy and Marvin Harrison and wrote about them constantly.
He also always complained about T.O.
Go figure.

The fact that Kenny Stabler is just NOW getting in is atrocious. He should've been able to speak for himself at his induction. What a shame.
But then we're letting Carter in so quickly? bullshite
Kenny Stabler
Super Bowl XI Champion
4x Pro Bowler
2x All Pro
2x All-AFC
1974 NFL MVP
1974 Offensive Player of the Year
Raiders All-Time Passing Leader
27,938 Passing Yards
194 Passing Touchdowns
