It won't stop the New York media from covering his every move in the minors. I doubt this circus lasts more than a season though.

They have a minor league affiliate in St. Lucie, FL. If they send him there, that place will sell out.

A big part of minor league baseball is gimmicks to fill the stands. Signing Tebow would be a good call for most minor league teams looking to boost attendance.

Not sure how i feel about this as a Mets fan. I mean if he happens to be good, ok, but i have no interest in being part of a sideshow circus.

I still think it is incredible that MJ jumped straight into Double-A and did what he did. Yes he was bad, but showed improvement and hit pretty well in the Fall League.

I usually watch as much of the Fall League as I can, but I'll definitely be tuned in when Tebow is playing, out of sheer curiosity

Interesting they are starting him in the Fall League. That's where top guys go. Wonder how bad he'll look.Michael Jordan hit around .250 in the Fall League, but that was after playing an entire season in AA.

As far as I know, they're sending him to the instructional league which is very different from the Arizona Fall League where MJ played. Also, MJ was sent to the AFL after spending an entire season in AA. Tebow would be a fish out of water if he had to play against AFL competition right now. It's going to take some time to get his baseball skills up to par. I won't be surprised if the Mets have him at extended spring training until June before assigning him to one of their short-season affiliates like Brooklyn or Kingsport.

I thought they would send him to instructional league, but I kept hearing Arizona Fall League.

Eta: I just read the MLB article. Instructional league in Port St. Lucie. Agreed he would get murdered in the AFL

You could tell by Schefter's tweet that Tebow could be possibly sent to the Arizona Fall League that he hasn't paid attention to baseball in a very long time.

HUH ? why is tebow willing to go to minor leagues to further baseball career when he was unwilling to play cfl/arena

Mets' rookie ball team is in Kingsport, TN, which looks to be on the outskirts of Johnson City. But Tebow wouldn't go to Canada ...

Yall rememeber my thread from a few weeks ago about people being totally ignorant about sports bugging me at an irrational level?

One of my friends heard this and posted in our Groupme about how he couldn't believe tebow was gonna play for the Mets and what an accomplishment it was

He had no idea that it would only be a minor league deal and likely nothing would come of it

This is what I was talking about

I was on board with this #Tebow thing until I read he will miss multiple days per week in instructional league to do TV. No longer serious.

That sucks. I've wondered how serious he was about baseball. He is already going to have people questioning his commitment to this thing, and certainly people will claim that he's only there because of his name. Missing days to continue his TV job will not help that perception.

Furthermore, I know ESPN's thinking is that Tebow brings eyeballs to their broadcasts, but how credible is he as an analyst? If he will be playing baseball all week and then dropping in for a couple days to cover games, how can he even have a handle on what's going on in College football?

The mets usually suck anyway, the only interest you should have is finding another team to root for

Yea, I like Tebow and I've defended him but if he's missing time to do TV, he's not serious about this.
