The New England Patriots drew the Pittsburgh Steelers offside early in the fourth quarter Thursday night when they shifted their entire defensive line in the middle of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s cadence. Roethlisberger was visibly upset after the flag was thrown and wanted the officials to penalize the Patriots on the play.

“I thought that there was a rule against that,” Roethlisberger said, via USA Today’s Tom Pelissero. “Maybe there’s not. Maybe it’s just an unwritten rule. .. We saw it on film, that the Patriots do that. They shift and slide and do stuff on the goal line, knowing that it’s an itchy trigger finger-type down there.”

They were so mad yesterday they started kicking fans

quote:

The NFL is investigating Steelers TEs coach James Daniel for allegedly assaulting and verbally accosting a Patriots fan Thursday night. It reportedly happened as the Steelers were heading back to the locker room at halftime of Thursday night's opener. Daniel allegedly kicked a fan in the back of the leg and yelled at him before half. Authorities were waiting for Daniel at the coaching booth after half. Daniel is the latest assistant to be looked at for assault after Bills OL coach Aaron Kromer and Browns OL coach Andy Moeller. It also messes with blocking assignments right before the snap.

The steelers are pussies

I can believe THATS what they were complaining about that's done in every game

I thought he was saying that they simulated the snap count by yelling stuff out

I mean, the Pats did the exact same thing later in the game and it allowed the steelers to run it in because they shifted away from the hole that the play was going. I didn't see Rothlisberger complaining then

Steelers are just complaining to complain now. I get the gripe with the headsets, but defensive shifts before the snap happen all the time. They're being the sports versions of SJWs right now.

What a bunch of whiners

Coaches, players, fans and media. Can't blame them. The commissioner just spent 9 months calling them cheaters

So much pissing and moaning about one team being better than the other during a regular season game

Then your OL should have been prepared for it and should not have jumped when the Patriots finally shifted like that.

It's your own damn fault for not remembering what you saw in the film room.

It's not like their coach intentionally tripped the ball carrier or anything.

I remember Bama did this against LSU one year and got a first down.

LSU did it against Bama and we were penalized

anyways, the story gets better:

quote:

Left guard Ramon Foster, who also moved on the play, confirmed the Steelers had seen it on film and players were told it’s legal, provided the Patriots don’t cross the line of scrimmage.

Great comment from reddit:

quote:

If a quarterback can use a hard count timed in the cadence to draw a neutral zone infraction, the DL can use a shift timed in the cadence to draw an offside.

I hope one of the Patriots said "you stupid fricks" right after the flag was thrown.

I see this on a regular basis. A lot of times it's used to discourage a particular run only to make it the weak point and to mess up OLine counting systems.

Do the Pats do this to shift on the first count of a hard count?

If so that's badass.

The entire league should complain about the Pats.

This shite is getting ridiculous with new information about how they cheated in 3 Super Bowls.

Kraft is a POS and Brady is a congenital liar.
