It's a shame. Harbaugh coached at Stanford and he did a good job and Shaw took them to a Rose Bowl. Cal did seem to not want to have good football and spend the minimum to keep it going. Stanford though should not be in this bad shape. This is the college of Jim Plunkett, John Elway, Bill Walsh, and Christian McCaffrey. Stanford has the money to be good in football.

I could see Cal dropping down in a division to FCS and playing Holy Cross, the Ivies and similar schools.

If I’m not mistaken Cal lost to a SWAC school in basketball this past season. The Jason Kidd years are long gone.

OSU and WSU to Mountain West

Stanford independent.

Cal don’t know or care.

3 Rose Bowls, but who's counting?

The PAC12 was sneering at the thought of any of the Big12 religious schools joining them, and knowing who they are that was probably Stanford and Cal, so they can get fricked and should be told to do so.

It was.

Per the bylaws, two "no" votes = a veto. Those two schools made it clear that no religious school would receive their consent.

I hope the B1G doesn't let them in. They can stew in a lower tier conference or crawl to a conference with religious schools as members.

They should be grateful if the MWC gives them an invite

What a difference a month makes.

San Diego St. is going to get a vote on whether Cal get join their conference.

Stanford's reign as the school with the most National Titles (134) is gonna come to end.

They're gonna have to slash their Title IX darling status, and cut sports left and right...and athletes won't be coming left and right to play in the Mountain West and they don't have a National football brand to pay for all the other sports and be Independent ala Notre Dame.

Stanford was on its way to cutting 11 sports before the students sued..and before all this happened.

They needed constant donations even with PAC12 money because they're and have been so ridiculously overextended in sports.

Good luck with Mountain West money or Independence.

If Stanford wanted to try and they fully activated their alumni donor base towards athletics they'd be fine.

Yep if I'm the Big 12 I'd rather take Oregon State and Washington State over Stanford and Cal. Especially Cal with their arrogance. I would love to see the Big 12 lock them out knowing that the Big 10 really isn't interested in them. If they were they would be leaving with Oregon and Washington. Oregon State offers more in football and baseball than Cal offers in with their entire athletic department.

It will be great to see Cal either have to compete in the Mountain West or just disband their football program entirely.

Big 12 should just go to 20 and cover alot of states: San Diego State, New Mexico, Wazzu, Oregon State. Leave Cal and Stanford out because of their politics.
