Stanford does deserve some props and they are being largely ignored when they would get more attention were they named USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, etc.

So even though I think the writer has something of an agenda I don't have a problem with the article - there should be more attention given to some schools outside of the Southeast

The tree will lay waste to the pac-10 this year.

I like his premise, his first sentence and his last three sentences... But that drivel in the middle is embarrassing. Who cares about Notre Dame? He goes on and on about Stanford's tough schedule and then focuses on their matchup with San Jose State?

I like Stanford this year, but this column sucks.

Who really cares about number 1 now? You need to be in the top 10 or so to feel good about moving up as other teams lose

I have FSU/OSU in the NCG only because it will make my office a warzone (4 total people 2 of them are seminoles)

Stanford is 'Bama-Lite'... similar mindset and style on both sides of the ball, but Bama is doing it with a totally different class of athlete. Anyone with two funcioning eyes can see who the better team is. I can't think of a more solid preseason #1 (USC 05 maybe?) than bama is this year.

personally, if i'm picking a pac12 team to matchup to them, i'm taking Oregon... a Bama/Stanford championship game would be repeat of last season.... at least oregon's style on offense could give Bama's defense problems.

Hell no. We must be reading different stuff from the FUCLA times.

I think Dufresne is actually a Louisiana spy stationed in So Cal.

I wholeheartedly expect Stanford to win the NC this year.

Everyone thinks Stanford and thinks of their offense because of guys like Geirhart and Luck, but I expect them to have the best defense in the nation this year. Their front seven is siiiiiiiiiick!

I want to be wrong, but can a front 7 of guys who were not 4* and 5* guys across the board be the best in the nation? Honestly I don't know a ton about stanford and recruiting, but I know they bring in great OL and good QBs...haven't heard much about bringing in good DL and LBers (although I know they have a couple of good ones)

They bring in big guys who fit their system perfectly. Their front 7 is absolutely loaded. Skov is one of the best LBs in the nation. Tarpley is the best player you've never heard of. Murphy turned down the NFL to return as a senior, so did Gardner. They're incredibly talented.

It just goes to show you people on here love to comment on USC or the Pac 12 but really have no clue because they don't follow it and their opinion is simply dumb stereotype. Look at the Watkins vs. Lee thread last year. Lee was probably the best freshman receiver in the nation and most on the MSB hadn't even heard or watched him (by their own admission.) MSB truly doesn't have CFB fans in general...just SEC fans.

"Chris Dufresne is a huge Pac 12 homer" - as if that were even some huge knock...as if the entire Southern media wasn't insular and completely biased.

Didn't realize Sammy Watkins played in the SEC

LSU and Oregon are the only two teams in the past three seasons to have only lost one game to a team that did not appear in a BCS Bowl.

Bama is 35-5, but Oregon is 36-4 and LSU is 34-6. Oregon also has two conference titles, the same number as LSU and Bama have combined.

I'm just saying, if we're looking for the Pac-12 team to contend for a title, it ain't Stanford. I also think Oregon's style of play would give Bama fits. I can't think of an elite spread team Bama has beaten.

2009 UF would probably fit the bill.

They would. So, before any player on the current Bama roster played.
