Maybe they shouldn’t
What’s your rationale for why this fundamental aspect of a football field and the way it is designed and used during a game should be changed?

Intentional grounding needs to be fixed.
5 yards from spot of foul and loss of down.
QB’s have nothing to lose if they just chunk it away.

hmmm
I wonder if that happened if the league would eventually move more and more toward the running quarterback or offenses would have to start building the pocket in pocket passers would prevail

NBA season starts on Christmas
NBA games are 44 minutes, and at that point the first team to score 10 points more than the team currently leading has, wins the game.

Remove the kickoff. Kicking team gets a 4th and 15 from the kickoff tee spot.
Kickoffs are lame.
Onside attempts are lame.

Get rid of holding in football. It’s the most convenient penalty on both sides of the ball. It’s not called consistently. Get rid of it. Come up with something that makes sense, has clear guidelines, and can be called consistently
That would be one of the all time dumbest rule changes in sports. It would completely change the game of football as we know it.

Then replace it with an enforceable rule. They don’t call holding, even though it happens every play. It wouldn’t change shite.

I think the point is that the end zone is the Defense’s space they are defending. If you lose it through their territory, you lose the ball.

If they are both not winners, then they are losers. Maybe both teams should receive a loss in that case. I bet you would see a lot less ties if that was the rule.

Every single "player safety" rule enacted this century in college and pro football. Make Violence Great Again.

But I’d love to hear your rationale just so it can be refuted.
The offense can’t advance a fumble anywhere else on the field if the ball goes out of bounds. If they fumbled out of bounds it goes to where it was fumbled at. If they fumbled at the 10 and it went out of bounds at the 2 it would come back to the 10. If they fumble at the 1 it should just go to the 1 like it does everywhere else on the field.
I’m not the one saying this should change, I’m just explaining it.

Fighting to change this rule generally involves ignoring this basic concept:
The rest of the field is not the same as the end zone. There are different rules for the end zone - it’s why teams score points in them and why teams are trying to prevent others from getting into it.
The sidelines and what happens if you fumble on the one yard line are irrelevant to this rule.
In terms of similarity, the 1 is closer to the 50 than it is the goal line. Nothing special happens if you cross the 1. So who cares what happens if you fumble at the 1, the 12 or the 37? The end zone is different and because of that there are different rules.

20 yard field goal should be 2 points
30 yarder 3 points
40 yarder 4 points
50 yarder 5 points
60 yarder 6 points
Safety 4 points
No automatic first downs om def holding
No DH in baseball

quote:agreed. Id like to see the kickers go back and forth. Starting at the 25 yard line sounds good. Kickers rotating who goes first and moving back 5 yards each round until one kicker makes/one kicker misses in a certain round.
The fact the NFL allows ties is straight up Un-American. I don’t care how long it takes. There should always be a winner and a loser in American Football.
Edit: After the first OT. Not directly after regulation.
