I don't understand this argument of "because quarterback x won more Super Bowls than quarterback y, then quarterback x has to be a better quarterback."

I'm sorry, why do we attribute a team achievement when ranking individuals? Does the quarterback play defense? Does the quarterback kick field goals? Or coach the team?

Makes no sense to me that we attribute team success fully on one player.

QB is the most important position in the NFL. Show me your QB and I'll show you your record..........or something like that

Why is the QB the only position that carries a win-loss record?

Hmmm? Hmmm??

Yeah why would the 1 person who makes a crucial decision with the ball for 50% of the game be valued over a DE or TE?

Since the beginning..The QB position was important... But since the 2000's this is not the case.. QB'S ARE the whole game now... If you were young enough to watch the NFL for the last 40 years you will not understand the evolution of the NFL......

Obviously there are some outliers and game managers (Dilfer), and it is a major indicator of grateness, IMO.

But I think it's more of a situation where it's a sign that you can survive an entire season of with plenty of adversity and close calls, you led your team to the right wins at the right time at the end of the season, and you wound up on top.

Manning and Favre are perfect examples. Favre could have had about 3 or 4 rings, but he had a tendency to make the stupidest play ever at the exact worst time. Ask Corey Webster and Tracy Porter. That's why he's one of the greatest but he's not THE greatest.

Why does Peyton Manning have 2 and not like 4-6. Because when he had the chance, he and his teammates came up small. Hell, the reason you could argue that he even got two in the first place because he faced two of the most un-clutch big-stage Super Bowl QBs ever.

If you're trolling, bad troll.

I mean, let's face it, when someone (including myself) uses the Super Bowl argument, it's not including guys like Dilfer.

But for any stooge to question the significance of Super Bowls when EVERY EXPERT harps on Super Bowl victories as it relates to the QB position...well, it's just stupid.

Every knocked Manning for years for not being able to win one. It was the one thing seperating him from Elite status. Then it was can he get 2?

Is it a fool proof argument? No. But neither is "Brees is the best because Stats."

They do it because they attribute losses to QBs as well. It's the spotlight position of football. If a QB is elite, he can win a game all his own by making the great plays, and on the flipside can lose a game on a single throw.

Why are pitchers judged on wins and losses? ... It's because, just like QB, they control the game and touch the ball on every play.. The success of a team runs through them... Not hard to figure out...

Go look at the past 25 super bowl winners. You will see a vast majority with a hall of fame caliber QB at the helm.

So by that logic, Eli must be the Greatest, since he beat Brady twice.

Come on man, you were rolling until you tried to say Manning only got 2 Super Bowls because he faced two crappy QBs. I mean, look at who he had to go through to win those 2. He had to beat Brady to get to 3 of his 4 Super Bowl appearances.

So you value Trent Dilfer over Dan Marino? What about Russell Wilson at the moment? You know Dan Marino, probably the most physically gifted throwing quarterback of all time. And even though Manning has over 10,000 more yards than Brady, over 100 more TD's than Brady, and higher yds/game and completion percentage than Brady...somehow...Brady is better.
