So long story short, I decided recently I wanted to take a little weekend getaway this fall and see a cfb venue that UGA likely wont' visit. After some browsing around I settled on MSU at OSU on 11/21. I talked to some of the OSU posters here who were very helpful, and I think I'm going to make this thing happen. Already bought a ticket to the game, Air BnB housing is dirt cheap, and flights are pretty affordable. Now for some questions for those in the know.

-I know you can't say for sure, but is there ANY way of hazarding a reasonable guess of game time? I'm really hoping for night. I'm also scared to book a flight right now, in case it turns out the game is at noon or something. I want to just fly up Saturday morning, stay teh night, and come back Sunday.

-Are there any "touristy" type places on campus I need to visit for sure? Most of the places I looked at are a few blocks straight east of the stadium so I'll be on foot all day.

-For Saturday night after the game, what are some bars I should hit up? Do the bars close at a certain time? And how far are the bars from the stadium? Walking distance would be awesome, but I assume I might have to take an uber. If not walking distance, how far are we talking?

-What is a reasonable guess on how long it will take to get from the airport to the stadium (I only use the stadium since I dont' have a house booked yet but it'll be fairly close so it's a good reference point)? Also, on my flight up there on Saturday, there's a chacne I might not get there til later morning, so on my way to drop my bag off I'll be contending with gameday traffic.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

ETA: For those too lazy to read 2 pages, I am now planning on flying in late Friday night and not on Saturday.

I could be wrong, but I think it's rare for B1G games to get flipped to prime time if not announced before the season.

Uh oh, that's not good. BTN nor abc/espn have that as a night game.

You're saying it'll be very unlikely it'll be one if not already?

ETA: i know SEC/CBS will either announce a few weeks out, or sometimes exercise a 6 day option where it won't be until the Sunday before. One of the FIRST things that made me start buying in for this was that flights were much cheaper than I woudl have thought. If I wait til a few weeks before that probably won't be the case.

With OSU already having two 8 pm games on ESPN Primetime (Penn State 10/17)(Minnesota 11/7), I really don't see another one coming for MSU. It's most likely it'll end up in the 3:30 time-slot on ABC, but could just as well be 12

The Big Ten almost never has night games in November because of the potential for snow and ice on the roads when people are driving home. There used to be a rule against it but I believe that was waived last year.

I would be shocked if it was not a 330 game.

3:30 ABC?

Damn I really wanted a night game. Ughhhhh. I guess I need to revisit flights...although I can't really book one now if the game is at noon.

I wanted to avoid going on Friday at all costs just because that's an extra day of lodging, plus I have to contend with getting off work and dealing with ATL traffic to the airport.

Yes- 330 ABC would have to be considered the heavy heavy favorite.

Ok cool.

Flights are non-refundable so I reeeeeeeeally dont' want to take a big chance. What are the odds it would be at noon? And when do you think the announcement would be made?

Very low. Other Big Ten games:

Purdue at Iowa
Indiana at Maryland
Illinois at Minnesota
Michigan at Penn State (probably the biggest competition to get 3:30)
Northwestern at Wisconsin

Theoretically, ESPN could take both Michigan/Penn State and Michigan State/Ohio State at 3:30. If they had to pick one, they're 95% going to pick Ohio State.

Also, there really aren't any other big games that weekend. The ACC schedule is terrible that week

I think there's no chance it's at noon but I would probably still get plane tickets assuming noon is possible.

They usually don't announce it until 2 weeks before the game- annoying I know.

In my opinion, the only way the game will be at noon is if one of those teams is very bad (i.e., way below .500).

I'm moving back to Columbus since undergrad so I'm especially excited for that game. Personally, while night games are fun, I really enjoyed 3:30 games (at UT as well). After a win, it's more enjoyable to have that evening.

Ok so tell me how this works

Michigan St. at Ohio State
Purdue at Iowa
Indiana at Maryland
Illinois at Minnesota
Michigan at Penn State
Northwestern at Wisconsin

We're reasonably sure there won't be any night games. So those 6 games have to go somewhere. 1 will go on 3:30 ABC. Another will go at noon on ABC. 2 will go to the BTN (early slot/middle slot). What about the other 2?

In your estimation is it reasonable to assume 3:30?

I think it's more than reasonable; by far the most likely start time.

Ok, I'll try to get flights soon then before they go up.

Only problem NOW, is that the only times I saw earlier that were nonstop got in at like 1030. I would prefer to not arrive that late. I'll keep searching.

BTN can pick two games at the same time and limit one to certain TV markets, I believe.

ETA: Others might get ESPNU'd or ESPN3'd
