I'm sure there are. Plenty of them popped up on my twitter feed recently.
As a long time cardinals fan, I was conflicted this whole series. Love seeing them lose, but I somewhat know the agony of being a part of a long suffering fanbase (Saints) and I remember how great '09 felt. Plus, best team all year. They deserved it.

I was rooting for Cleveland last night. Almost started rooting for the Cubs when I saw Lebron pretending like he's an Indians fan though

I grew up watching the Cubs back in the early 80's outside of NOLA on Cox where we had WGN. Those were the Ryne Sandberg, Sarge, Rick Sutcliffe, Andre Dawn, Leon Durham, Lee Smith, and eventually Mark Grace Cubbies of the 80's. I was playing a ton of baseball at the time so getting to watch baseball nearly every afternoon because they were not yet playing night games at Wrigley was great. Seeing those games felt like a local look into this coll thing far away...and since the Cubs weren't very good for much of that time they were my own little thing at school and at practice where no one else had adopted them. Plus, my grandmother lived with us then and she watched most games with me wearing a Cubs cap and loving Harry Carey.
But when I went to school at USL back in the fall of '88, I lost touch with them because Lafayette did not and still does not have WGN on Cox. I never became a fan but I enjoyed watching the Braves pitching staff featuring former Cub, Greg Maddux, during those years. And then after the strike and following Maguire/Sosa home run drugged up season I quit paying much attention to baseball.
So...it was strange for me to see them do so well this year. Deep down I have always still felt like a Cubs fan, but I lost touch with them a long time ago. I did start following them towards the end of the season and followed them completely through the post season. Felt nice, and I did get a ton of enjoyment out of seeing them finally pull though. Hard to imagine those lazy summer afternoons sitting in the living room watching the Cubs with my grandmother hoping they'd finally make that push.
Not sure what that makes me...

Well, he's from the area, so I don't think that would be too much of a stretch. Bigger question would be is he actually a baseball fan.

I was pulling for them in the series. Mainly because my only other option was Cleveland.

I get where you're coming from but he'd be a much bigger douche if he didn't go there and get pumped like he did. He cared.
I graduated from Southeastern and am an LSU football fan but you better believe I'd be jacked up if the Lions finished in the top 10 and made it to a NY Bowl.

I jumped on the band wagon a couple months ago. Most of my friends are Cubs fan. I'm a Braves fan but never hated the Cubs. Back of the day it was one or the other due to WGN and TBS being the only outlets to watch baseball. I generally hate the American League so it was easy to climb aboard. I'll bail off before spring training.

as a White Sox fan, I am not a Cubs fan - however as a baseball fan, I love that they won and am glad I got to witness it in my lifetime.

WGN was available in Lafayette via TCA Cable (before Cox) up until the mid to late 80's I believe. Someone will probably correct me but I remember watching Cubs games on WGN in Lafayette.

There won't be another generation of WGN nationwide Cubs fans because they don't air the games anymore outside of Chicago

WGN was not on Cox in '88. I wasn't here for TCA whatever that was. Apparently it is now and it's called WGN America. That's good to know...
Trust me. It was basically a shock to me when I unloaded my shite into the dorm, put on the TV and scanned around looking for it and it was not there.
Before then? I couldn't tell you but by the fall of '88 WGN was not on Cox Cable in Lafayette. And given there weren't 300+ channels it was pretty easy to determine if it was or wasn't. Not to mention, I called asking.
But honestly, given I had lost touch with them so long ago I had never bothered to look again in the last 15 years I'd guess.

I totally get this, and it's definitely a historic win that all sports fans can appreciate.
I'm more referring to everyone flipping their shite and pretending like part of their blood was used to mix the concrete for the foundation of Wrigley field.
