you soccer fans never give up. it's a niche' sport in this country and even most of the kids that played the game like American football a lot better. to me, watching golf on TV is much more exciting than soccer. this 1-0 crap gets old.

Soccer is the worst of all major sports. The US will never accept it mainstream. And Americans will get rid of the NFL and turn to hockey if needed.
Soccer will NEVER be big in America. It has stupid rules that only the meek, the mild, and the stupid would appreciate. Plus, there's all the flopping and faking.

No way, people in America absolutely loathe the diving and acting in Soccer.
And it's done by the best in the game.
Greg Louganis called Messi,Neymar,etc divers.
I watch a lot of European soccer, but the diving will never be accepted here. The biggest complaint from non soccer fans and casual soccer fans after every World Cup, is how horrible the diving is.

So why is it still one of the fastest growing sports in the country and football is declining year on year?
Also, there is a game on now live on the regular Fox channel directly up against NFL programming, you think Fox would do that for altruistic reasons?
You must also think there is a future in coal mines.

Understood, but I believe there would be more reverence for the anthem if it wasn't played before EVERY sporting event. When they do actually play anthems in international soccer matches, it yields some cool moments, like when the French sang God Save The Queen with the English after the Manchester terror attack. Mario Balotelli has been the subject of racist abuse within his own country and he still sings the Italian national anthem.
Anthems are heightened when the stage is heightened IMO.

For all the people who are ticked off at the NFL, hockey is the perfect sport for you. Players who are not controversial. Fast, physical, tough. NHL playoffs is the best in sports. Hockey also owns the single greatest event in American sports history. Only makes sense to wrap yourself in the flag and cheer for Team USA.

If there was an NHL franchise in Louisiana, believe me, I would be a tremendous fan. I love the game, but lack any stake in it. There's no local franchise or local players to root for. I can watch the NFL and see dozens of players who grew up in the small towns near me. I don't get that experience with hockey. I would be picking a team to root for completely arbitrarily.
