Soccer coach claims cancer link with Field Turf

Women’s soccer coach Amy Griffin started asking questions after two goalies she coached developed cancer according to an NBC News report. NBC News first reported on the possible connection between crumb rubber and cancer in October of 2014.
A conversation with Austen Everett, a star goalkeeper for the University of Miami who died from cancer at the age of 22, also pointed Griffin in the direction of the artificial turf.
Everett said, “I just have a feeling it has something to do with those black dots.”
Everett passed away in 2012 from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and chronicled her fight with cancer.
Griffin started a list of goalies she knew with cancer. That list has risen to 75 players.
On Friday, three U.S. agencies including the Centres for Disease Control, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a plan to investigate crumb rubber. [/quote]

Funny, she jumps right to the field. Maybe it's the soccer that causes cancer. Dolt.
Probably getting a lawsuit together.

Do those 75 players have the same type of cancer?

Cancer is cancer, it's all the same, duh.

If I started a list of people from any occupation who developed cancer, I'm sure it would exceed 75.

I thought ESPN's OTL did a piece on this a while back? It was always goalies representing a high portion of victims.

Wouldn't the workers in the manufacturing plants be dropping left and right?

Must be something about them diving and it getting into their system, but you wonder why other soccer players, male goalies, or football players aren't seeing these problems.

Someday, people will realize that most all manufactured materials cause cancer to some degree.

Other athletes like football players are constantly getting tackled on field turf, and they aren't getting cancer, so it can't be the rubber pellets.
Maybe it's those big goalie gloves?

Watching the show the guy spreading the rubber on the field was wearing a breathing ventilation mask. I'm sure they take similar precautions in the plant.
It's like the people who say Roundup isn't causing anything but when looking at the plant people are dressed like a biohazard unit.
Who knows if a direct link, everyone is different and some are going to be more susceptible to foreign objects with known carcinogens being inhaled etc.

It's probably children that have been laid off by Apple doing the work there. But I think they are given Haz Mat suits to protect them from the noxious carcinogens.

This type of field turf hasn't been around long enough to come to any conclusions yet. No way you can really test it. Are you going to tell people to swallow that black rubber. Recently there has been some people over here complaining about it as well and how it may cause cancer.

Makes me cringe a little seeing my children with 15 pounds of Chinese made Mardi Gras beads around their necks.

They aren't getting it inside of cuts and their eyes, presumably.
How many youth football players play on this type of field?
Football players are generally well covered up (compared to soccer players).

That's not true at all. I don't know if round up causes cancer or not, but I have been in monsanto multiple times and they are not dressed like that. You literally didn't tell the truth for the hell of it. Before my current job I was there multiple times a week and walking the plant and working in the plant no one ever had to wear anything like a bio hazard suit. Actually the only unit in the plant that's bad is a unit monsanto doesn't even own, they just run it. Its a chlorine unit. Does is cause cancer? No clue....just wanted to call you out on your flat out lying post.
