Ron zook was 28-14
Dinardo was 32-24-1
Shula was 26-23

Not a ton of difference IMHO

Regardless, why does Urban leaving Florida harm his legacy, but Nick leaving Miami not?

They both made personal decisions on what to do with their lives. Who gives a shite. Doesnt change the fact both are the cream of the crop in anyway

Take the Dolphins out of the equation, we'recommend talking college. Meyer leaving doesn't make him any less of a coach, but it seems he left to avoid the SEC competition.

Well, he seems to be doing fine in the Big 10, where he played 4 top 10 teams this year

Because he's a great coach. It also doesn't mean he can't beat Saban, obviously. You get my point, carry on.

And for anyone that says zook has a way better record than the other 2, keep in mind zook stepped in to a great situation at Florida and inherited a top 5 program when spurrier elevated to the NFL.

I think a big argument in Saban's favor is that Saban took over two programs that were in awful shape while Meyer took over a Florida program that wasn't in bad shape but had a lot of talent and an Ohio State program that was already a Top 5 caliber program when Tressell resigned. No doubt that Meyer is a great coach and can probably win anywhere, but he has never had a true turnaround task at the top level.

In addition to doing it in the SEC, this is the reason Saban will always be better than Meyer in my mind.

Saban basically created LSU's program as we know it today. That program was a dumpster fire and he built it into a yearly contender, won a NC and laid the foundation for another that would come after he left.

Obviously what he's done at Alabama is incredible, but it's also made people completely forget how bad of shape that program was in when he got there. They'd cycled through DuBose, Franchione, the Price debacle and the Shula desperation hire, and were coming off of probation. My cousin lives in Birmingham, and I'll never forget him going to a REC luncheon to see Saban speak in 2007 or 2008, and Saban said during his speech that they didn't have one player on he roster who could bench 300 when he got to campus.

Compare that to Meyer, who inherited a Florida team stocked with talent from Zook's recruiting that was just 3 years removed from the Spurrier era of dominance, and came into a talent-laden roster just one year removed from the Tressel era.
