17 games is 8-4 with a bowl win. Real powerhouse he left.

That's a stupid argument.

Texas is showing signs of life. If I was a Texas fan, I'd be wanting to give Strong more time.

his fault that Texas special teams (kicker and punter) shite the bed two weeks in a row? He's fine. 4 of the top 6 players on offense are freshmen. There is reason to be optimistic again with Jerrod Heard. He gets this year and definitely next year.

the D at least looks/seems like it's improving every week

offense is going to be up and down b/c they are relying on so many young guys b/c the cupboard was bare last year

Yeah his melt was pretty horrendous, but he should be given time to change their fricked up culture. At least give him another year to put his program with his players in place.

i think we need to go find the old articles from NFL coaches/scouts talking about how UT players were soft from teh country club atmosphere...and this was back when they were really good (2004-2009) in CFB. then mack got frazzled in recruiting b/c of RP and Brantley switched at the 11th hour and started a really poor recruiting gameplan (would push juniors to commit and have their class wrapped up before they even saw the kids as seniors). mack passed on a lot of talent trying to minimize risk and UT had a real downturn in talent, esp on the lines.

I believe Texas is going to start at least 10 freshmen by seasons end, probably more.

Offense
Heard (redshirt)
Vahe
Williams
Burt

Defense
Jefferson
Freeman
Boyd
Hill
Davis
Bonney (redshirt)

7 of those players have already started. They're definitely really young, and should get better. I'd give Strong at least another year.

17 games is very decent. Considering how literally everything that is wrong with the Texas program has so far been put on mack, you would think that he left the cupboard bare and won only 10 games over two years. Nope, he won 17 and left them with a bunch of talent. Maybe the problem isn't mack and Charlie is in over his head

so you think he should have kept criminals and malcontents who didn't want to work on the team? how do you think that would have worked out?

let's assume he kept them on the team. do you think they would have played without buying into the system and competing for their spot?

i think there is plenty of valid criticism but the talent issue is not one of them

i think every single coach in the country gives a little leeway. charlie decided he wasnt going to and thats why texas has the depth issues they have right now

why is this just assumed?

yes it is. he inherited talent, because he decided he was going to go nuts as a disciplinarian, he kicked it all off the team, now texas is losing because of it
