the most recent Dallas team vanished without any announcement at all.
its tough to keep up with a league that cant consistently keep teams in the same cities for an extended period.

The league was killed by the recession. Arena football was starting to gain a following and stability and even had a (horrible) video game released by EA Sports.

Philadelphia at champions Arizona in an ArenaBowl XXV rematch is on CBS Sports Network, DirecTV channel 613 at 7 tonight.
if you have DirecTV and the sports pack San Jose at San Antonio (two more good teams from last year) is on CSN Bay Area, DirecTV channel 697 at 7:30
the VooDoo play the Orlando Predators in the NOLA Arena at 3:00 PM tomorrow, live in the Baton Rouge and Acadiana areas on Cox 4 and tape delayed in NOLA

before the hurricane, the VooDoo were so successful Tom Benson figured "we play indoors... let's have the QB put up insane stats while we play no defense. the fans seem to love that."
then Roger Goodell saw that and thought "let's change the rules and make it impossible to play defense. Arena Football has done so well over the years

The AFL is at a huge disadvantage to the NFL. Even if they had sell out crowds every night, they still wouldn't have enough money to recruit the dynamic of players.

Definitely. I didn't even know the Chicago Rush still existed until I read in the Tribune this week that a 33 yr old private equity manager bought them last month. And it was mentioned in the Business section, not the Sports section.

This plus ESPN taking over. NBC treated it like it was big time, and marketed it well. ESPN acted like it didn't exist and only played one game week even though they have 50 channels.
