Skip Bayless New Show Good for FS1 Time-Slot, Still Gets Trounced By First Take

Tuesday’s premiere of Skip Bayless’ new debate show delivered a .10 overnight Nielsen rating, which is a 400 percent improvement over the same time period last year. Back then, the Fox-owned cable channel received a .02
Additionally, the premiere’s preliminary TV ratings were 233 percent better than the channel’s August 2016 average (a .03), when FS1 aired similar filler.
Earlier, TheWrap compared “Undisputed’s” premiere ratings versus the same day’s “First Take” on ESPN2, where Bayless embraced debate for 12 years. It really wasn’t much of a battle, however, as the Stephen A. Smith-Max Kellerman morning show trounced “Undisputed” by 320 percent. We didn’t have Fox Sports’ historical comparisons at the time of that initial post.

I feel like so many people 'watch' (I doubt they actively watch, but it's on) ESPN daytime television due to sheer muscle memory and habit.
This is FS1's problem. No one knows they're there. No one thinks to turn them on. Even if they blow ESPN out of the water content-wise, I'm not sure there's an actual audience for this stuff.

I'm surprised ESPN hasn't sued Fox Sports yet. Undisputed is a complete rip off of First Take.

Due you're not lying. From the attractive moderator (Joy Taylor) to the graphics. Even having a rapper do the intro (Lil Wayne). Horowitz could've at least make it look a little different

Litterly the same exact show

I don't know of you can sue based on a TV format.
FS1s problem is that it's just not in the public conscious... Every bar and gym America has like 5 channels they put on the TVs.. Fox Sports ain't one of em.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It is not illegal or tortious.

I'm not sure if you did this on purpose but I like it.

Marvin Gaye's family disagrees.

I know right? I can't believe the Late Show hasn't sued Late Night.

Idk, but the show is way better. Max is the man.
Sucks Max and Marcellus are no longer together, though. Two Columbia boys.

I know it's trendy to say this, but I don't watch ESPN much anymore. MIGHT watch 3 hours a week. 90% of that is Russillo.
This has nothing to do with a conscientious decision. It's just so bad that I can't watch anymore.
My point is...for about a year, I'd have ESPN on all day simply because it was a habit. It just felt right. I'd imagine tons and tons of people have done and do the exact same thing.
I now do the same thing but with the golf channel. It's been my go to background noise for about a year.

You know why that is right? Skip basically created First Take in its current format. So not really shocking that he's going to do the same exact thing he did the first time

Horowitz did with Skip and Stephen A as the vehicle.
Also SVP took a shite on FS1 in a Washington Post interview:
quote:
“Jamie Horowitz is a guy that’s a friend, and every article he’s quoted in he mentions ‘SportsCenter’s’ failing ratings. And not one says, ‘Well how about [the Cowherd-Whitlock team-up] “Speak for Yourself,” which gets 50,000 people.’ We don’t have a single show that rates that badly. He gets constantly quoted talking about our ratings, and that is an astonishing thing that continues to happen. … At some point, if you’re going to talk [junk] about our ratings, you should be held accountable for yours. They’re not close. And by not close, I mean it’s like Washington to Los Angeles, not Washington to Baltimore. You’re a long, long, long, long flight away.
quote:
I’m just professionally competitive. And so I can say, ‘Wait, if you’re going to keep saying that,’ then I’m going to say, ‘What are your ratings?’ I saw one day there was 28,000 people watching that show. … That’s the attendance of a Cincinnati Reds game. That’s your audience. ‘SportsCenter,’ on its worst day, gets 300,000 people. But we’re failing. We’re just failing away over here.”
