Lol. The thought of Olympic kayaking on the Bogue Chitto is hilarious.

Doesn't LSU have an artificial waterway they could use?

Haha they cannot afford it and it is a losing proposition.

I think we are almost to the end of the "olympics" as we know them.

I think it is about to come to smaller events that are given Olympic titles using existing venues and facilities on a much smaller scale.

I don't see why not. Nola has the infrastructure to support it. Baton Rouge too.

I would love to see it, but NOLA couldn't run a World's Fair. The Olympics would be an even worse disaster.
When you look at previous US Olympics, the '84 games were run by Peter Uberroff and '96 in Atlanta were run by Billy Payne. Louisiana does not have business people of this caliber to run something of this magnitude.

Nola.... has no public transportation, is poor as shite, the crime level is outrageous,

To be fair, the games were just in fricking Rio. You'd have a hard time convincing anyone Rio is safer than NOLA

As for infrastructure, it's not unattainable. There's a shite ton of money invested in the Olympics. And some events could be held in BR and the surrounding areas. You've already got the Arena and Dome. Tiger Stadium, Yulman Stadium, Gormley are options. LSU has a first class Track facility. Rowing could be done in Bayou St John, which is where Tulane and Loyola do there's IIRC. Golf you have the TPC. There would need to be some aquatics center developed.

The cycling course would suck, though. And I'm in no way suggesting NOLA could handle this or would have a realistic shot at it. But to say it's impossible to physically host isn't accurate.

LSUs track facility would need major upgrades to handle the Olympics. The track itself would be great but the stadium is way below Olympic standards

ETA: updates they don't really have room for with the pmac being right there

Tulsa would be a lot better choice than Nola for an Olympiad

I'd be embarrassed when the power went out during the opening ceremonies.

New Orleans has its problems, but Alabama is truly the a-hole of America. I would rather blow my brains out than live there.
