If I were in attendance I would've appreciated he moment as a Cubs fan. But as it happened I think I would've been stuck in a "frick, we got no hit" mindset for a moment or two.

Baseball and their fans/rules are weird

How many LSU football fans would cheer if Alabama got the stop 4th & goal, late in the 4th quarter, if the Gumps were up 50-0 over LSU in TS?

How is it different?

Is a no-hitter more uncommon than a 50-0 shutout over LSU?

Football games matter way more. Good baseball teams still lose 35-40% of their games. frick it if my team gets no-hit in July

You're the one arguing the logic for cheering on a rival team to embarrass/shut-out your own favorite team.

Alex, I'll take "worst bandwagon shitty arse fan in sports history for $1,000 please"

It's not "embarrassing" to be no-hit - it's just one of those things

Yeah a July no hitter is one thing, but if it were the playoffs it'd be different.

If you are a Cubs fan, sure you cheer for,the Nono cause your team sucks arse anyway. Watching celebrations on your mound must suck, but then again, when is the last time the Cubs got to celebrate anything on their field?

Baseball and their fans are so stupid.

I'd rather whipe my arse with sandpaper than cheer for an opposing player to set some record against my team.

Peyton is at 4 TDs against the Saints, I'm cheering for Stephone Anthony to come free on a fire blitz up the A gap and plant that mo-fo n the dirt not for him to throw another TD.

Wtf is wrong with baseball fans?!?!

For me it would completely depend on the situation. Who you're playing matters a ton, along with what game of the regular season it is and where your team and the opposing team are in the standings.

If I'm not at the game no way am I rooting for it regardless of the situation. If I'm there, I might. It would be pretty cool to say you saw a no hitter. Again, just depends on the situation.

No. It's embarrassing to get no-hit. A no-hitter takes a great outing on the mound combined with incompetence at the plate. Now if he gets #27 I can appreciate it and give him a golf clap.

I'm a cubs fan, but you never openly loudly root against your team no matter what the situation. You do exactly what the cubs fans in attendance did. They gave him a very nice ovation after he secured it. Len Casper mentioned it on the cubs broadcast.

The reason you root for it to be broken up? Another stupid record...up until yesterday the Cubs had the longest streak without being no hit in baseball. It hadn't happened since 1965 when Koufax shut them down.

Cardinal fans cheered for Shelby Miller as he walked to home plate in his first at bat in Busch Stadium since he was traded to the Braves. A looooong standing ovation. And we did that for a player who refused to listen to the coaches pitching advice.

The city of St. Louis would've held a parade for an opposing pitcher who threw a no hitter against the Cardinals.

Cardinal fans do that because we have class. It's what classy people do. And, it's quite effortless to be classy, but most people across the country embrace trashiness instead.

Not St. Louis Cardinal fans.

Jesus effing Christ

A little different to give an ovation to a departed player who comes back on his new team. You know who does that? Every team and every fan base.

What exactly was trashy about Cubs fans giving him an ovation? You expected the chicks from the bleachers to line up to blow him as he came off the field?
