Its not "should" but they will, unless the committee pulls a switcheroo at the end on everyone.

The committee has shown time and time again that they value wins over the top 25. Miss State will have several.

Everything else we "think" the committee will do is just speculation.

Committee has the ultimate trump card for whatever they do though. They say they will value conference titles, and no one has any idea how much value they will place on that. If MSU is sitting at 4 the last week of the poll before CCG and MSU isn't playing in 1, the committee can easily justify whatever the hell they want.

Does an outright B1G title mean more than a shared Big 12 title if it comes to that? Does playing an additional game matter to the committee?

Questions 1 conference champion (2 if MSU somehow gets in) will likely be asking in early December

I think it would take a TCU and Baylor loss to put State through. I can see Baylor losing, but not TCU their schedule is weak sauce.

The only chance is that Thursday night game against Texas. I don't think that's a very good chance FWIW.

The knock on Baylor would be OOC schedule...three terrible opponents...TCU played Minnesota, which, at this point, looks decent.

But the Baylor win over TCU should trump that...

Everyone points at Baylor's OOC which admittedly is poor but TCU played SMU (same as Baylor) and Samford. So other than Minnesota (who will lose their last 3 anyway) it's not that much different and the head to head should matter, even though the A-hole Arky AD said differently last night. And the way TCU blew a 21 point lead to Baylor in the final 11 minutes should hurt TCU.

The Committee has made it clear that it does not want two teams from the same conference in the playoff with this week's rankings.

A Mississippi State loss to Alabama this weekend will put the Leghumpers around 7, or lower, depending on the severity of the loss.

frick the committee. They're supposed to take the four best teams, I thought?

If this scenario happens, and even if TCU wins out, I could see them being left out. Their ROS is pretty bad no matter what angle you look at it.

So, it'd be: SEC/SEC/FSU/Pac-12

This hasn't even happened yet. Y'all are an ornery SEC bunch, damn.

If they are supposed to take the best 4 teams, then OSU is in for sure!

According the the stats, OSU is a top 5 team now.

I hope State loses to Alabama and Ole Miss AND Alabama loses to Auburn. Then, I want the SEC East Champ to win the SEC.

Against comparatively weak competition.

But advanced metrics are on Ohio State's side, but I don't think many if any on the committee will look at those very hard if at all.

no...Ohio State needs help...they don't control their own destiny.

If Alabama or Miss State win out, FSU wins out, Oregon or Az State wins out, and TCU/Baylor win out, Ohio State will be left holding its pud...

Ohio State went to double overtime against a Penn State team that had 20 less scholarship players than the Buckeyes.

I think Ohio State could have a chance vs TCU/Baylor if Nebraska wins out.

It's interesting that Ohio State and TCU will have both played Minnesota. Apparently the committee puts emphasis on common opponents.

Ohio State needs to lay the wood this week, but in 5 degree weather, that will be easier said than done.

The committee cant place much value on conference titles since we have 4 spots and 5 conferences.

For example: "We put Ohio State in because they won their conference" - Ok then, but what about that Big 12 winner? They won their conference too.

Its just not feasible for the committee to value conference titles when there is an odd number to work with... so they wont.

The evidence is right in front of you, but it seems like youre choosing to ignore it.

And this has exactly what to do with advance metrics?

would be too funny.

Crazy scenario: Bama beats Miss St, UGA beats AU, AU beats Bama, Ole Miss beat Miss St. All 4 of these games are basically toss ups.

sorry, but the Big Ten is down this year (see OOC record), and they will be hammered for it. You need a lot of help to get in, not to mention win the rest of your games.

I'm trying to think of a scenario where the SEC is not in the playoffs this year. If LSU isn't in, I don't want any of the SEC teams in.

I never said anything to contrary.

Ohio State is certainly still on the outside looking in, but not by much. This season has 2007 all over it.
