For instance, Hakeem gets far more love than Shaq by the pundits for his moves, agility and game.
Shaq is my favorite player ever
But in fairness Hakeem was the only player owned him nearly every time they played.

He definitely needed Wade for that Heat title, as Wade was better and Shaq was declining. And Kobe helped, but c'mon - Shaq averaged 38 PPG/ 16.7 RPG/ 2.7 BPG in the 2000 finals.

I think people forget how athletic Shaq was.
This 300lb monster had a 30+ inch vertical in his younger days, and I also think people forget how much stronger he was than everyone else, by a lot. He made ripped up Karl Malone look like a kid.
How many rule changes happened b/c of his dominance? He was fouled pretty much everytime he took a shot.
There's never been another human with his size and his athleticism. His numbers and championships speak for themselves.

Finals stats during their run don't mean shite. The finals in those years were the WCF (usually against the Spurs) and Kobe shite all over the Spurs in those runs.

Not at all - see my above post. Kobe was good and he helped (almost every title team in history has had a good sidekick), but Shaq was undoubtedly the better player for their 3 peat.

Did he have any other basketball skills besides dunking and blocking shots? His post up game was nonexistent outside of 3 ft.

Shaq wouldnt have been as great if he played in the NBA today

obviously Shaq is the most physically dominant NBA player of all time due to his size and strength.
Um.... then how exactly is he overrated?
In his prime, teams had to resort to literally beating the hell out of him to slow him down. Come on man.

Put it this way as much of a freak athlete as Lebron is Shaq is close (second only to Wilt in sheer athleticism) plus Bron would never have bulled his way in on any team with all but ancient Shaq on it

Wilt, Shaq is basically a poor man's Wilt. Wilt was a frealing high jumper despite being way too long when you think about clearing the bar- he supposedly got his waist above the net when playing volleyball.

Shaq was so good at what he did it would have been dumb to do anything else.
Exactly. like taking the sky hook away from Kareem. why would he not do it constantly it was practically unstoppable

Shaq would be my first pick of any player all time if i get one guy for one season at their best. The mear suggestion that he was over rated makes me feel like an old guy waiving my fist at what the nba is today. The only people who made that argument back when he played knew absolutely nothing about basketball.
