There's a World Cup of American football. In one of the recent ones (if not the most recent) the US started Cody freaking Hawkins at QB. In the tournament the US outscored opponents 176-21. With Cody Hawkins at QB.

are you assuming they have to field a team but haven't invested years in developing said teams? the answer seems obvious then, less so if they devoted the attention to it that they have to rugby etc.
