This is true, though. How does Seattle get away with blatant holding/PI in the secondary on a constant basis, is what I want to know? Not that it would have mattered in the game last night, but it mattered a great deal in the game with the Saints.

They were the most penalized team in the NFL this year

First game was shite show and the Saints looked lost. I would give a lot of credit to the crowd on that one also, they were relentless and it showed.

The second game started out bad also but 309 yrds and a TD and 0 INTs is not a bad stat line against the best secondary in the league. I wouldn't say that was shutting Brees down is my point.
They held him in check for points of the game but that's not shutting someone down exactly

51% of his yards came in the last 5 minutes of the game and it started with that long pass that should have been intercepted.

85 Bears: Better defense, HOF RB, comparable QB

72 Dolphins: Actually shut out the Redskins, only TD came on a Garo Yepremian INT on a blocked FG

Steel Curtain Steelers: Better on D, HOF talent at every skill position on offense

77 Cowboys: Best Cowboys team ever (with apologies to the 90s teams). They sacked Craig Morton like 11 times. Their defensive performance was equally stunning.

I'll take the 2000 Ravens over this defense no question. Overall, it's closer, but I'll still go Ravens.

The offense was suspect on this team.. I know they had two 1,000 yard rushers.. They got lucky to win the AFC title game that year.. IMO the 1973 Dolphins were better than the 1972 Dolphins...

The 1978 Steeler team was the best of the 4....

I think they would crush the Hawks...

Ill take the 2000 Ravens Defense like you but I'll def take Seattle overall.

I think they are one of the best. I'm a saints homer and see a great team when I see one. They have chemistry and relish in the villain role, with Harvin their offense was alot better. They don't have the best WRs or TE but Harvin, Skittles and Wilson are elite players on offense. And the defense is one of the best in the last decade easily. Can't really compare different teams to different eras because they are different eras of football and style. I think since 2000 they are very few teams that are better.

Should have, could have , would have......

Did he or did he not have 309 yards 1 TD against the best secondary in the league?

All this says is that they knew he was going to pass the ball, and he did when he had too.

They are a great team and helluva defense. One of the fastest defense I've ever seen but they do have some weaknesses in the run.
Like I said, they jumped on teams early which played to their strengths. It would have been interesting to see what Wilson could do when playing behind and the defense having to stop someone's running game

Brees did not play well in that game, regardless of his stat line.
