I say yes. They shut down the best statistical offense ever in the NFL and made them like it the whole game.

Nope.. 1989 49ers and the 1985 Bears would crush them...

Based on? Even with all the rules favoring the offense, Seattle shut down one of the best offenses in the history of the game. Pretty sure you can't ignore that.

I wasn't aware enough about football in 85, but I have to say Seattle's defense today is better than any I've seen in my life.

He said "one of the best." Looks like you agree.

The rules favor offense and they shut down 2 HOF QBs in Brees and Manning like it was nothing.

Absolutely yes

i'd have to disagree with the rules favoring the offense, at least when Seattle plays.

This is true, though. How does Seattle get away with blatant holding/PI in the secondary on a constant basis, is what I want to know? Not that it would have mattered in the game last night, but it mattered a great deal in the game with the Saints.

Wut?...... The Saints lost by 8, in Seattle buddy, with a chance to score. I wouldn't say that was a "shut down". Also Seattle's secondary gets away with more holds and PI than any team I can every remember. They are very good but they do get away with a lot. They are not so good against the run though.

Also they are far from the best ever. Don't base this super bowl on much I would say. Seattle could do no wrong. Denver was not ready to play that game and their defense is terrible. I can't remember a more timid team in such a big game. If I was a Broncos fan I would be very embarrassed with that showing.

Without question...they did more than just out-scheme them, they absolutely demoralized them physically on almost every play.

What else do you call shutting us out 6 out of 8 quarters this year? They held us to 22 points over two games.

Seattle just isn't completely stacked with household names like some of the teams in the past are. Honestly though, you put this Seattle team against ANY former champ and they are in the ball game. This team has been impressive to say the least.

The Saints defense kept them in that game. They shut down Brees.

Denver run defense was very stout for most of the game and played well in the first half

You can't get behind against Seattle. Playing catch up plays right into their strength. Saints learned that during the season.
