but damn, Pippen or Thompson. Is that a serious question?!?!

It is an awful question. Pippen is an all-timer

yep. I'd love to see him try to go into the paint against Rodman

Best Player: Curry = Jordan

Not ready to say this year, but it's closer than people will admit.

quote:

2nd Best Starter: Pippen > Green

I'd make this Pippen > Thompson

quote:

3rd Best Starter: Rodman = Thompson

I'd make this Green > Rodman. Either way I think Thompson or Green is better than Rodman.

quote:

4th Best Starter: Bogut > Harper

Whatever, both are eh.

quote:

5th Best Starter: Barnes = Longley

I'd disagree here, but again, neither are gamechangers.

quote:

Bench: Kukoc is significantly better than any players the Warriors have coming off the bench.

Disagree here. Finals Iggy was better than anything Kukoc has done. I'd love to see Kukoc staying in front of some of the players now without the handchecking. People love to say what Michael would do without people being able to handcheck, but it goes both ways. How would someone like Kukoc guard anyone without being able to body them?

quote:

Warriors bench is far deeper and more talented from top to bottom. Their depth is ridiculous. The Warriors have 10 or 11 really good players they can throw at you every night.

Agreed.

Me too.

Would be hilarious to watch him casually kiss a floater off the glass for an and-one, and then get-up and smirk at Rodman.

Yep. Or just freaking torch teams from 3 and not even worry about driving

I never liked the Bulls, but they would destroy the Warriors. The Bulls did it while defenses were still very physical and teams were allowed to play defense. Defense has been legislated out of modern NBA. Curry would get beaten up if he played during the 90's.

Predictable response by someone riddled in nostalgia. This series would be close either way. No one is destroying anyone and I think it's a toss up leaning towards Golden State. Defenses were more physical and got away with more, but you also fail to mention the sophistication and advancement of offense, spacing, and shooting that today's game plays with - particularly this GS team.

And can you guys find new material? The "Player X wouldn't be able to handle the physicality of the 90's" argument is tired and annoying. You act like the 90's players were thrown into a coliseum. Yes, it was more physical. But just because players aren't getting clothesline doesn't mean these professional athletes (Who are bigger, stronger, faster than their predecessors btw) are now all of a sudden "soft" and wouldn't be able to adjust to being fouled hard

Pippen more versatile, but it's really hard to discount Klay's shooting ability. It's a lot closer than people think. Klay is one of the best 5 shooters in the world right now.

When curry can play defense remotely as good as this, you might have a case. Curry is probably the best offensive player in basketball history jordan is no worse than third (Kareem, though I'd take mj) AND the best defensive shooting guard of all time though if I had to lock someone down I'd put pippen on him.

And kukoc was nit a bench player he was a borderline all star who came off the bench, one thing about the bulls us 4 hey used the exact.same.s%ubstitution . Patterns.every.game. No. matter. what. Jordan and pip were going to come out with 4 mins left in the first, kukoc ran the second unit. They would come back in with 8 I the second close the half out

Same in second half exempt jordan came in with 10 in the 4th and kukoc finished the game out

That's what I'm saying. Klay is deadly from deep, and not many players can just heat up like he can (he's almost JR Smith like in that way).

You bothered to look at Stephs defense rating this year? I am guessing not
Terrible stat.

I'm not a fan either of the posters who completely dismiss Steph's season this year to compare to MJ, but he's not on MJ's level defensively. He's just not.

DRating is just an awful stat as well.

So Mark Price and Spud Webb and Muggsy Bogues could play in the 90s but not Curry?

Brilliant!!!

I just hope my kids remember me the way posters on this board remember athletes in the 90's.

"And, then, my dad lifted the SUV over his head! The children were saved, and then my dad was blown by 12 OT 9's!"

When, in actuality, I called 911.

I think people underestimate the value of floor spacing. When the defense can't sag off a player it makes room for everyone else. That is part of the reason GS is so good this year.

Pippen is probably a better defender but Clay is also a great defender. Clay is probably a better scorer?

No doubt, that's even moreso prevalent for Curry.

A lot of people, maybe not as much now with the way he's played, downplay Curry a bit and talk about how great the team around him is and the fit for him. But the reality is, he's basically everything to that offense with how much spacing he creates.

Klay right now is a better offensive player than Pippen ever was, and he is also a fairly good defender.

Where Pippen has the advantage is his defense (in his prime may have been a top 10 all-time defender) and his versatility. Klay can play the 2 and 3, Pippen could legitimately and effectively play 4 positions probably as well as anyone other than maybe Oscar, Magic, and that Lebron guy.

Curry?

Why do people say this?

By basically all accounts, he's a good defender.
